About the Role

Our client is looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented QA Engineer to join our small but mighty engineering team and help ensure the quality and reliability of our web and mobile applications. As the first dedicated QA hire, you’ll define and lead our quality assurance process across the product lifecycle—from early design validation to post-release monitoring and bug triage.

Work hours: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM PH Time

Work set-up: Remote


What you’ll do

1. Proactive QA During Design & Planning

a. Review user stories and design specs to write comprehensive test plans

b. Anticipate usability or logic issues and provide early feedback c. Define acceptance criteria and identify edge cases in collaboration with engineers and designers

2. Manual QA for Internal Builds

a. Perform smoke tests, exploratory testing, and regression testing on in-development builds

b. Log and triage issues in Jira with clear reproduction steps and severity ratings (P0–P3)

3. Post-Release QA & Monitoring

a. Investigate and validate production bugs and anomalies

b. (Bonus) Use analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel) to track user behavior and detect drop-offs or errors

c. Recommend improvements to instrumentation and logging for better traceability

4. Build End-to-End Automated Testing

a. Design and implement a test automation framework covering Web, iOS, and Android

b. Choose and set up tools like Cypress, Selenium, Appium, Playwright, or Detox, Katalon, tailored to each platform

c. Integrate test automation into CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Bitrise)

d. Write and maintain automated test cases for regression, smoke, and end-to-end testing

e. Ensure new features are covered by automation from day one

5. QA Culture, Process, and Tooling

a. Own and evolve QA best practices and documentation

b. Maintain a prioritized bug backlog and enforce quality gates during releases

c. Collaborate on release checklists and QA sign-offs using tools like Runway

d. Champion a quality-first mindset across the organization
