Job description

 

JOB TITLE & Employer Name:

Industrial Engineer II, Warehouse Design for GXO Logistics Supply Chain, Inc.

JOB DUTIES:         

Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination. Prepare engineering calculations and documents detailing storage and shipping capacity, facility sizing, zoning, slotting, and waving. Analyze data from systems to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies and implement changes to workflows, software configurations, or hardware setups to enhance overall performance, as well as improving flow using time studies and head count analyses. Collaborate with Data Analytics team to analyze client data for order profiles, storage media applications, product slotting, velocity, SKU affinities, and ABC analysis. Participate in reviews with key work stream leads, including engineering peers, Warehouse Management System (WMS) implementation, and operations teams. Collect and analyze data to track KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and measure warehouse performance, generating reports and dashboards, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions for process optimization. Design overall facility layout with storage media and flow and select appropriate equipment for Concept of Operations, including developing flowcharts and process diagrams for warehouse systems. Develop detailed engineering processes for new business awards, from conceptualization to detailed design for implementation, obtaining vendor quotes and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design integrated solutions. Oversee installation and setup of automated systems and equipment, including calibrating sensors, robotics, and conveyor systems. Communicate project status to stakeholders. Prepare WMS configuration documentation and identify and design new WMS and interface requirements. Manage material handling and automation vendors through scheduling, permitting, installation, commissioning, and performance testing. Develop inventory control strategies to ensure accurate stock levels. Track and manage inventory using WMS, including analyzing forecast demand, defining set order points, monitoring inventory levels, and optimizing stock placement. Support solutions team's response to RFPs, develop materials, and present to potential clients. Participate in Joint Planning Sessions and conduct gap analysis, identifying changes to project scope and providing needed documentation and escalation. Develop training materials and conduct training for warehouse staff, mentoring and training junior staff members in warehouse operations. Create and update documentation, manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for processes and automated systems. Monitor and maintain warehouse systems, including working with maintenance teams to schedule maintenance windows. Ensure compliance of all automated systems with OSHA regulations and safety standards, implementing safety protocols and procedures for automated equipment. Conduct safety audits and risk assessments and recommend improvements. This position is open to telecommuting from anywhere in the United States, reporting to headquarters in High Point, NC. Requires 50% domestic travel.

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of experience in Engineer, Industrial; Industrial Engineer I or related.

 

Requires 2 years of experience. Experience must include the following skills:

 

1.       AutoCAD;

2.       Time Study measurement, including Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST);

3.       Third-Party Logistics (3PL) warehousing, distribution, or fulfillment;

4.       Project and resource management;

5.       Microsoft Office, SQL, and Lean Methodologies; and

6.       Production Schedule Control and Labor Management.
