Position Summary:
Senior Engineering Manager is a high-impact role leading a team to deliver web and API products. Join a dynamic team shipping a variety of business-critical projects in the EV charging space. Proactively improve process and technical standards. Ensure high-quality output, prioritization of key objectives, and clear communication with collaborators across the organization. An ideal candidate knows how to empower engineers to deliver the best possible work.
Required Experience:
- Proven history shipping web applications and APIs.
- Up-to-date and detailed knowledge of web application architecture, tooling, stacks, and platform capabilities.
- Experience managing a team of software engineers, fostering an environment that rewards success, handling underperformers, and actively guiding career development.
- Ability to recruit qualified engineers with appropriate skillsets and minimize retention risks.
- Aptitude to own your engineering backlog, prioritize work, and assign tasks to achieve the best outcome.
- Excellent communication skills ensuring clarity across your manager, stakeholders, and collaborating teams.
- Deep understanding of industry best practices in agile, code review, and team structure. Enthusiasm to iterate on your team’s process in pursuit of operational excellence.
- Technical depth, grounded in hands-on experience, sufficient for guidance of technical vision and oversight.
- Project management competence building a roadmap, scoping team size, and estimating implementation time.
- Proactive mindset, effective delegation, awareness of how your team contributes to the larger organization, influence that extends to the wider engineering department, proficiency working with minimal oversight.
- B.S. in computer science, related degree, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with electric vehicle charging standards such as OCPI
- Experience delivering customer, internal, and business-facing applications
- Track record with React, Next.JS, TailwindCSS, and GraphQL
In this role, you will work primarily remotely with occasional travel as needed and be a part of a team distributed across the US. EVgo is headquartered in Los Angeles.
For job positions in CA, CO, and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $160,000 USD to $180,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, discretionary target cash bonus, and restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval).
