Job description

ROLE OVERVIEW 

The Project Development Associate will be involved in supporting project development efforts. The Associate will support solar site assessments for critical issues related to project development, as well as provide support for the preparation of permitting documents. The Project Development Associate will also support Developers and Directors in the management of third-party contractors, the preparation and execution of land use permits, public outreach, community meetings, land use hearings, interconnection studies, and critical real estate and landowner document support. There are many moving pieces to develop solar projects, and the ability to prioritize, multitask, effectively communicate, and remain highly organized is paramount. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Project Development Associate will be responsible for the following items, among others, and will be provided with the tools and resources to succeed and grow within the role. 
  • Support Developers and Directors of Project Development performing a wide variety of project development tasks with a high degree of accuracy and organization. 
  • Evaluate the viability of sites through site visits, desktop diligence review, local permitting process analysis, and review of various site conditions (i.e. environmental reports, geotech studies, topography surveys, grid compatibility, etc.) 
  • Meet with landowners, secure real property documents as needed, assist with title commitment curative tasks 
  • Assist in identifying and creating necessary submittal documents for permitting authorities 
  • Organize and maintain files, budgets, and project records using Pivot’s internal processes, databases, and project management software 
  • Monitor utility interconnection portal communication and coordinate and respond to study deadlines 
  • Assist, support, and attend community events to discuss solar with stakeholders 
  • Plan community events, complete mailings to invite stakeholders, take notes during events, and produce and publish meeting minutes from events 
  • As needed, assist Developers and Directors of Project Development with other tasks related to project development activities 

  • REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
  • Minimum 1- 3 years of experience in renewable energy development 
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills, and a positive attitude to enhance the company’s reputation through interpersonal interactions 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively with project stakeholders with varying knowledge of solar project concepts 
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to sites and permitting authorities 
  • Ability to travel up to 1/3 of the time, make own travel arrangements, and be self-reliant 

  • PREFERRED COMPETENCIES
  • Familiarity in all basic computer programs, Microsoft Office Suite, GIS Programs (particularly Google Earth, Project Management Programs (particularly Smartsheet, and Salesforce  
  • Self-starter who can work with limited supervision, who readily asks questions and embraces tasks outside of their comfort zone 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage complex evaluation processes across a broad range of projects across a portfolio. 
  • Ability to anticipate project requirements and address long-lead time items to limit schedule slip 
  • Understanding of real estate title, tax maps, deeds, and parcel identification
