Job description

Department: IT & Change

Location: Manchester, UK

Description

Our AI Product Engineer will join a small, fast-moving team building the next generation of AI-powered products. This is a hands-on role for engineers who love solving hard problems through rapid prototyping, and who thrive in ambiguity and speed. We’re not about polishing pitch decks — we’re about writing code, shipping fast, and learning as we go.

About the Team

This role will be part of a team that is flat-structured, best-idea-wins culture and where engineers shape product direction. We have a feel of a startup, but the luxury of resources and reach of something much larger. Whilst our offices and extend teams are based in Manchester and London, we also offer flexibility to work from anywhere (UK) for this role — though we’re Europe-focused and love getting together for hackathons and solving problems face-to-face when it matters (and it’s genuinely fun).

About the role

  • Prototyping and launching real AI features using OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google models.
  • Building with Python and TypeScript in a Next.js/AWS Amplify stack.
  • Designing workflows with AWS Step Functions and Lambda.
  • Integrating and transforming data in common formats like JSON, XML, and CSV.
  • Working closely with stakeholders to shape products from idea to production. • Debugging complex issues in modern LLM stacks. • Collaborating in an environment that values fast learning, iteration, and honest feedback.

What we're looking for & more

  • A track record of side projects or prototypes — ideally coded in Cursor or Windsurf.
  • An enthusiasm and passion for coding and exploring AI capabilities just for the fun of it.
  • Fluent in Python and TypeScript, and think in APIs and structured data.
  • A sense of achievement to own problems end-to-end, with the ability to recognize to ask for help where needed.
  • You’re energised by collaboration and talking to stakeholders to understand real-world problems.
Sound like you? Great! Whilst a CV tells us part of your story, we would love to see a short summary about you with any relevant links to Loom - following this we will reach out to you for a teams interview if suitable.

Whilst this position can be done from anywhere in the UK, you must already hold the relevant right to work in the UK as we unfortunately can't provide sponsorship for the role.
