Job Title: Large Group Underwriter (Healthcare)

  • Medical Insurance Underwriter with CLAIMS experience.

Location: Remote

Pay Rate: $25-$30/hr

Hours: 40 per week

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Excel (basic formulas)
  • Experience with Stepwise Automated Rating Model

Job Summary:

  • Underwrite and rate large groups
  • Manage a book of business with up to 100,000 members and $350 million in premiums
  • Meet revenue, margin, membership, and persistency goals
  • Provide consultative services to internal and external customers
  • Make decisions within underwriting policies
  • Produce regular and ad hoc reports
  • Analyze underwriting risk and determine premium rates
  • Recommend benefit and funding plan design options
  • Assist with underwriting process and system changes
  • Participate in rate and benefit discussions with sales and customers
  • May assist in training underwriting staff and other departments

Hiring Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or advanced degree (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in a related field
  • In lieu of a degree, 5+ years of experience in a related field

Additional Information:

  • Possible conversion to full time employee at end of year long contract
  • Must have experience analyzing claims in your current or most recent role
