What's so exciting about this role?

The Credit Underwriter/Analyst is a hybrid role covering underwriting of applications and supporting analytical projects. The role will be responsible for assessing consumer credit applications while also supporting the management of the credit and fraud risk through data analytics. The role operates with a high degree of autonomy and independence and is expected to deliver against key performance indicators, striking the right balance between credit risk and new business acquisition. This is a fully remote role.


What Does An Average Day Look Like?

  • Assessment of Consumer Finance applications
  • Review information and engage with applicants to obtain and documentation or further information required to reach a suitable credit decision
  • Ensure creditworthiness, affordability and fraud are adequately assessed for reviewed applications
  • Support the Credit Portfolio Manager in data analytics on portfolio performance, generating insights and identifying opportunities to enhance credit risk decisioning strategies
  • Deliver quality customer service for queries related to the application journey in line with Treating Customers Fairly and Vulnerable Customer principles
  • Identify application problems and escalate / resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Cooperate with other teams and functions to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Experience in UK financial services in particular underwriting of unsecured personal loans
  • Understanding of credit risk and automated decisioning strategies
  • Experience or passion to develop data analytical skillset - use of different software/languages for data manipulation and visualisation
  • Ability to make timely credit and business decisions
  • Strong Attention to detail and ability to notice anomalies
  • Excellent analytical skills together with an ability to think laterally and strategically
  • Able to translate insights and reporting into operational activities and vice versa
  • Confident in formulating and communicating ideas to senior management.
