ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Missions Coach is a ministerial position designed to contribute to the mobilization of Christ’s church to Great Commission obedience by bringing about increased involvement, understanding, and commitment to missions generally and TEAM in particular. TEAM has strategically identified specific locations in which to place Missions Coaches based on mobilization potential, key relationships, and proximity to other team members. For this reason, mobilization leadership will require a commitment on the part of the missions coach to reside near the area in which they were hired. ***While this is a 100% remote position, preference will be given to applicants who are current Texas residents.***
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cast a biblical missions vision for those presently unengaged in missions
Provide godly coaching and direction to those presently moving towards global worker service
Assess global worker candidates’ spiritual maturity and readiness for international ministry service with TEAM
Assist the local church in their mission to mobilize their own people towards global worker ministry service
Seek to understand current and expanded audiences to effectively reach, engage, and mobilize the body of Christ towards missions
Meet with peers and supervisor in regular meetings for prayer
Represent TEAM and recruit new global workers from resource pools such as campuses, churches, missions focused groups, and other venues
Respond quickly and appropriately to people inquiring about service with TEAM
Actively maintain relationships with potential global workers; Wisely coach candidates as they seek and obey God
Stay informed of TEAM’s international ministry needs and opportunities; Work with potential global workers to identify appropriate opportunities to serve within TEAM
Guide in the application process for global worker candidates
Interview and assess readiness for international ministry, which includes having critical conversations with maturity and discretion about sensitive subject matters as it pertains to the candidates’ fit with TEAM
Maintain accurate and timely records of activities and interaction with contacts according to TEAM’s established mobilization procedures
Debrief with global workers and/or groups as needed
Contribute positively to the Mobilization Team through the collaboration of ideas and tasks, encouragement, and input towards fellow team members, follow through on assigned tasks, eagerness to participate in team meetings and activities
Continually learn and develop core competencies of the missions coach role
Assist with other projects or responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor that may include:
Speaking/teaching as opportunities arise
Participation or leadership in internal project groups
Utilize social media and personal networks to create additional awareness of TEAM’s ministries
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working or serving in multiethnic or immigrant churches or communities
Bilingual in English and either Spanish or Mandarin to guide the application process for those from diverse backgrounds
Bachelor’s degree preferred; focus on Religion, Missions, Intercultural, or Nonprofit Management helpful
Experience in cross-cultural missions or mission activities; previous assessment experience preferred
Demonstrate enough technological proficiency to:
effectively manage a heavy email load
communicate through email and video conferencing
keep accurate records of inquiries, meetings, etc.
Ability to easily and effectively establish relationships and maintain a large number of ongoing relationships
Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in person, in writing, and on the phone
Be accountable, organized, and self-motivated in managing time and prioritizing work-related tasks
Have a deep understanding of and ability to converse about essential doctrines of the Christian faith, missiology, discipleship, and a non-profit organization’s role is serving the church in the Great Commission task
Experience working with teams and has demonstrated themselves to be a team player with a positive attitude, a good listener, and passionate about serving God and others; able to function well independently and in a team setting
Be able to track the details related to scheduling, budgets, mobilization events, follow-up, etc.
Be skilled in paying attention to details, asking insightful and probing questions and discerning issues that would be potential flags/risks
Ability to navigate spiritually sensitive conversations with maturity and discretion
