The Area Safety Manager will assist the field-based operations teams in ensuring a safe environment and regulatory compliance. Additionally, this role will be responsible for routine visits to numerous Signature Aviation locations, appropriately managing incidents and investigations, and conducting compliance assessments.
Open to travel and ability to be on call 24/7/365
Responsibilities
Lead, influence, and drive best in class behavioral based safety practices
Act as the subject matter expert for all matters as they relate to applicable Aviation, Occupational, and Environmental regulations to assist the Operations Department
Provide in-person and remote coaching and Safety/Security assistance to an applicable network of bases as appropriate.
Conduct internal or external safety assurance practices, including audits and investigations.
Promote and implement Safety Management System standards, furthering Signature's Safety Culture.
Lead major investigations as necessary related to property damage or injuries.
Partner with leadership to impart and promote safety requirements and best practices
Manage applicable portions of the Safety Database supporting the Safety/Security and Operations Departments.
Assist with Quality Control for deicing and fuel, including coaching base Team Members.
Assist with local emergency preparation and response as needed
Assist with operational planning during major events
Analyze and interpret U.S. and foreign government safety-related regulations
Recommend enhancements to safety-related policies and procedures
Active involvement to support the implementation of strategic safety business plans to support operations
Promote and develop clear and open communication throughout the company and all departments
Participate and assist, as requested, in organizing the company participation for programs and functions, including but not limited to conventions, seminars, Senior Management Committee, Advisory Board, etc.
Assist, as needed, in developing technology to support business development, efficiencies, and positioning for expansion.
Ability to be on call 24/7/365
Qualifications
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors’ degree for a four-year college or university; five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Knowledge And Skills
Preferable experience includes working knowledge of U.S. Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) regulations and/or Canada’s Occupational Health and Safety Standards (OH&S).
In-depth knowledge of aviation operations, specifically business and general aviation and FBO operations.
Working knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency standards.
Working knowledge of National Fire Protection Agency requirements.
Working knowledge of Transportation Security Agency regulations.
Computer and MS Office skills.
