Salary: 40,000 USD Annually

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Total compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.


This position, as a key part of ALM’s global newsroom, will cover the business of law as it relates to our core regions of coverage across Asia, including Hong Kong, mainland China, Singapore, Japan and other relevant regions. The position will be responsible for both breaking news and enterprise coverage of the key trends impacting the way global and local law firms operate in the region and how they are servicing clients. A strong candidate will excel at building sources and developing story ideas beyond press releases. The reporter will be able to toggle between daily and longer-form reporting and identify trends impacting their area of coverage. An ability to identify and report on data related to the industry is a plus.


Responsibilities:


  • Write daily and longer form coverage of the legal industry in Asia
  • Work with our global team to identify broader trends in the region and globally
  • Meet with and develop sources
  • Meet with global team members to develop story ideas and other possible projects
  • Engage with audience through content development, social media, podcasts and other methods of audience engagement
  • Write accessible content for a sophisticated audience that goes beyond the news to include the impact of the news for their industry.
  • Work on special projects, such as law firm rankings, special reports, etc.


Qualifications:


  • Candidate should have journalism training or experience
  • Previous experience covering the legal industry is not necessary, but previous experience writing about business is preferred
  • Strong interest in the legal industry is required
