Joining our team as the Underwriting Manager – Ancillary Products, in this pivotal role, you will lead the integration of our Ancillary Products book, consisting of six diverse products, into AA Underwriting Ltd by Q4 2026. Your expertise in underwriting, compliance, capital requirements, and the regulatory environment will be crucial to our success.
What will I be doing?
Regulatory Submission: Prepare the Section 83a regulatory approval submission for the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC), with a target submission date in Q3/Q4 2025.
Collaborative Liaison: Work closely with Broker and Roadside teams to develop detailed product descriptions, manage claims handling, and deliver product attestations, including fair value assessments.
Risk & Compliance Coordination: Partner with the Risk & Compliance teams to address key risks, adhere to FCA Prod4 rules, and manage value measure and pricing remedy reporting submissions.
Actuarial Collaboration: Engage with the Actuarial team to understand and address capital implications for regulatory submissions.
Financial Reporting: Collaborate with the Finance team to establish and implement future reporting requirements.
Governance Preparation: Develop and propose a governance structure for AAUICL Board approval.
Resource Planning: Assess and propose future resource requirements and establish ongoing performance monitoring post go-live.
Board Presentation: Present the regulatory submission to the AAUICL Board for approval.
Steering Committee Representation: Represent AA Underwriting Ltd on the project Steering Committee, ensuring alignment and progress.
Regulatory Management: Oversee the approval process and ongoing relationship with the Gibraltar regulator (GFSC).
Performance Optimisation: Identify opportunities to optimize product performance through underwriting expertise, market knowledge, and data analysis.
Risk Management: Anticipate and plan for new and emerging risks that may impact our products, developing appropriate strategies.
Product Value Reviews: Collaborate with Product teams to conduct regular product value reviews, ensuring our offerings continue to provide excellent value to our customers.
Technical Expertise: Provide expert technical input into policy wordings, point-of-sale (POS) documentation, and product specifications.
What do I need?
Capability, Knowledge And Experience
Extensive experience of underwriting with an insurer or Managing General Agent (MGA).
A keen commercial awareness and an excellent understanding of risk.
Expert knowledge of the UK insurance market, with a strong grasp of legal, capital, and regulatory aspects, particularly those related to the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (FSC).
Proven track record of effectively communicating complex issues to business management.
Experience leading teams through change within a large and complex business environment.
Excel at presenting information clearly and persuasively.
