About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists to join our Health Information Services team in a Clinical Coding role. As an experienced Clinical Coder, you’ll be part of St Vincent’s Health Australia’s Private Division, with the unique opportunity to support coding across our 10 private hospitals nationally.

This is a rewarding position during an exciting period of transformation, with the introduction of the Meditech EMR system on the horizon.

About You

You’re a detail-oriented and motivated Clinical Coder who thrives in a dynamic healthcare environment and is passionate about coding quality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately and promptly code patient separations using ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and Australian Coding Standards

  • Liaise with clinical and administrative staff to obtain necessary documentation for coding

  • Manage and prioritise your workload effectively

  • Participate in ongoing education, training, and quality improvement activities

About You

You will be a highly organised and process driven individual. Critical to this role is a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and efficient time management skills.

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor of Health Information Management or Certificate IV/Diploma in Clinical Classification

  • High level, practical knowledge of Australian Coding Standards

  • Minimum two years coding experience

  • Experience with private sector funding models would be desirable but not essential

  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements

  • Excellent organisation and communication skills

  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage internal stakeholders and team members

  • A strong level of computer literacy/knowledge
