Job description

Job Overview

Pennwood Cyber Charter School is seeking dedicated and student-focused individuals to join our team as Engagement Specialists. This remote position involves collaborating with all school stakeholders to foster active engagement in the educational process.

Engagement Specialists work closely with parents, students, teachers, and staff to ensure student attendance, participation, and academic progress while also nurturing a strong sense of community at Pennwood. By building relationships, maintaining consistent communication, and promoting accountability, the Engagement team plays a vital role in supporting student success.

This position reports directly to the Manager of Engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Stakeholder Partnerships

    • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, students, school staff, and community partners to support student attendance, participation, and academic achievement.

  • Attendance, Participation, and Performance Monitoring

    • Monitor student attendance, participation, and performance data to ensure students remain on track academically.

    • Provide support strategies to address barriers using various methods, such as:

      • Facilitating Student Attendance Improvement Conferences

      • Complying with Pennsylvania’s truancy regulations and implementing required support measures

  • Community Contribution

    • Facilitate initiatives that promote a positive school community by organizing events, attending field trips, and coordinating activities to increase engagement and involvement.

    • Cultivate new community partnerships that support Pennwood students' future readiness.

    • Partner with stakeholders to recruit students for school clubs and activities.

    • Establish and lead Caretaker/Learning Coach Engagement Committees.

  • New Family Onboarding

    • Welcome and onboard new families by providing information, resources, and support to help them smoothly integrate into the Pennwood community and educational environment.

  • Barrier Identification

    • Identify academic and non-academic barriers affecting student attendance, participation, and performance.

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop effective solutions that promote student success.

  • Daily Performance Monitoring

    • Track, analyze, and interpret student engagement and performance data on a daily basis.

    • Use these insights to develop targeted action plans and timely intervention strategies.

  • Communication and Outreach

    • Regularly communicate with parents, students, and Pennwood stakeholders to provide updates on student progress, share resources, and proactively address concerns.

    • Establish and maintain various synchronous and asynchronous communication channels with stakeholders.

  • Professional Development

    • Stay informed on best practices in engagement, education, and student support.

    • Participate in and facilitate professional development opportunities focused on improving student attendance and engagement.

  • Additional Duties

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (preferred).

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
