Tabeo is building the ‘Shopify’ for private healthcare. Our platform simplifies payment and marketing services for local clinical providers including dentists, audiologists and opticians. Customers benefit from a quicker, easier access to relevant payment options in one unified check out flow. In addition, they receive access to i) custom landing pages, ii) email & text campaign builders and iii) dashboard to manage leads.
Today, over 8,000 dentists across the UK use Tabeo. 200 more join our platform every month. Tabeo is the dominant market leader for patient finance and seeks to be the same for cards and capitation plans. Sector specific features and super competitive pricing will help us upsell the service. In parallel, we want to capture more market share in new verticals (hearing and vision care). 99% of payments rely on cards so you build/own the data highway to simplify marketing flows for our Customers.
The business is profitable and we plan to grow revenues by over 100% per year in the next 5 years.
We believe in a remote first approach to work and equip teams with all perks and tools so they can thrive. However, we all come together 2x per year for Team Weeks. We previously met in Dubai, Lisbon and London. Next, it is Budapest and Reykjavik.
Requirements
About the role:
We’re looking for our first dedicated DevOps engineer to join us! We currently have two cross-functional product teams, and hope to add a third in 2025. We’re ambitious, and have many interesting strategic and technical challenges ahead of us. We’re looking for an experienced self-directed specialist who will take ownership of our platform's stability, observability, and operational excellence - driving improvements across infrastructure, developer productivity, and platform health. Here are the key areas you can expect to make an impact:
- Observability and monitoring: Establish and enhance monitoring and alerting across services to improve visibility into platform health and reduce time to detect and respond to issues
- Platform health and stability: Proactively identify potential risks and bottlenecks in our systems, and implement solutions to increase system resilience and uptime
- Cost awareness and optimisation: Monitor infrastructure spend, identify inefficiencies, and help us optimise usage without compromising performance or reliability
- Automation and tooling: Build and maintain automation and scripts to reduce manual tasks, improve consistency, and accelerate developer workflows
- Release process improvements: Strengthen our deployment pipeline to make releases more predictable, safe, and streamlined, reducing friction and the risk of production issues
- Developer productivity: Enable faster, safer software delivery by creating tooling, templates, and automation that allow engineers to focus on building product value
- Metrics and insight: Define and implement key metrics to monitor infrastructure and platform performance, giving us better insight into what’s working and where we need to invest
- Reliability and scalability: Ensure that as we grow, our infrastructure can scale with us, supporting both performance and operational simplicity.
We typically use the following tools and technologies:
- Go to write our application code
- Google Cloud for our legacy infrastructure
- Confluent Kafka for our events handling
- Serverless technologies in AWS e.g AWS API GW, Lambda, EventBridge, DynamoDB, Docker for our new infrastructure
- Postgres for our databases
- Our frontend uses Javascript and TypeScript, & is hosted on Vercel
You should apply if:
- You’re a pragmatic and proactive DevOps engineer who thrives in environments where you can take ownership and drive meaningful change
- You’re excited by the opportunity to be the first dedicated DevOps hire, laying the foundations for infrastructure, observability, and operational excellence
- You have experience building and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure, ideally across both AWS and GCP, and understand the trade-offs between different approaches (e.g. serverless vs containerised)
- You enjoy working cross-functionally with product teams to improve developer experience, streamline CI/CD pipelines, and reduce time-to-production
- You’re passionate about monitoring, alerting, and metrics – and believe good observability is key to a healthy platform
- You have a strong handle on infrastructure cost management, and you look for ways to optimise without sacrificing performance or reliability
- You’re comfortable introducing and evolving tooling, automation, and best practices to reduce manual toil and increase consistency
- You’ve worked with technologies like Kafka, Docker, PostgreSQL, and modern serverless stacks
- You bring a mindset of continuous improvement and enjoy helping others succeed through better tooling, documentation, and shared ownership of quality and uptime
Our interview process includes:
You’ll start by having an initial call with our recruiter. From there, the process has four main stages:
- A call with the Hiring Manager, our VP of Engineering
- A live technical task interview with our engineering team
- A behavioural interview with the senior management team
If we extend you an offer, we’ll also arrange for you to meet Paul, our CEO, where you can ask any outstanding questions you have about Tabeo.
