Position Summary: The Special Education Paraprofessional will assist teachers with implementing learning experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, social and physical development of students with disabilities in a safe, healthy learning environment. This position will work in small groups and/or 1:1 with students to provide support in the special education setting throughout the day. The Special Education Paraprofessional will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
Assist the classroom teacher with the development and presentation of virtual learning materials and instructional exercises.
Reinforce concepts across settings that were taught in specialized instruction
Participate in meetings where communication and implementing strategies are discussed
Assist special education teachers with classroom activities and lessons
Supervise and provide instructional assistance to students within virtual break-out rooms.
Adapt and modify coursework under the direction of the special education teacher
Assist teachers with behavior support plan implementation
Assist teachers and student with the use of assistive technology to further learning opportunities and expression of knowledge
Assist special education teachers with the administration of benchmark assessments
Contact families and students as assigned by special education teachers
Perform office duties related to the documentation and implementation of specialized programming
Perform clerical and recordkeeping duties as directed.
Operate a variety of instructional media to assist student (Zoom, Nearpod)
Assist in the enforcement of virtual classroom discipline according to established policy and procedures.
Utilize appropriate mode of communication according to students’ needs.
Assist in the implementation of therapy programs developed by speech and language therapist, physical therapist and/or occupational therapist.
Adhere to the established work schedule, through regular and consistent attendance.
Demonstrate a commitment to Diversity, Equitable and Inclusive practices.
Follow all federal, state and local laws/ requirements pertaining to privacy practices, including but not limited to, FERPA and HIPAA
Education/Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or Equivalency, Associate degree or higher preferred
Completed the Credential of Competency for Special Education Paraeducators through the PA Department of Education.
Completed at least two (2) years of postsecondary study; minimum of 48 credit hours.
If preferred Education is not met, must complete Bureau of Special Education Paraprofessional Credential of Competency: Entry Level Training Series within 90 days of hire.
Experience Requirements:
Prior Paraprofessional experience preferred
Experience in a cyber education setting preferred
Ability to collaborate and work well with others
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office products)

Essential Functions / Duties / Responsibilities:
Must reside in the state of Pennsylvania
Ability to pass the background checks required for all school employees in Pennsylvania.\
This position could include limited travel and could include limited overnight travel.
