Job Summary:

The Cancer Center Financial Navigator is a dedicated member of the Cancer Center Financial Services team that is responsible for a large patient base. Responsibilities are to provide financial information and assistance to all new patients who are candidates for treatment, throughout the continuum of their care, as educators, advocates, and liaisons to our health care system and payers in order to ensure the best financial outcomes for patients and the institution. The role of the financial navigator is to assure the financial viability of treatment throughout the continuum of Cancer Center care. This includes working with patients to understand their insurance coverage (including inpatient, outpatient, prescription, housing, travel, etc), helping find insurance coverage for patients, collaborating with resources from the Specialty Pharmacy and Radiology, navigating the Insurance Marketplace and working with the team on disability, financial assistance, etc. Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

Two Years Experience In a Healthcare Field Is Required.

Experience in patient navigation, case management, managed care or other health insurance environment is preferred.

Exemplary Customer Service Skills Are Preferred.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

Bachelor's degree required. Areas of study may include Social Work, Business, Finance, Psychology, or Nursing.

Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Business, or Nursing is preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

High degree of organizational skills and excellent communication skills

Ability to work independently and take programmatic initiative.

Knowledge of health insurance guidelines, programs and plans

Patient assistance programs, co-pay assistance programs, Medicare, Medicaid health plans, COBRA guidelines and the ability to find new programs that could assist patients with their financial needs.

Pay is expected to be between: (expressed as hourly) $23.20 - $34.34. Final compensation is based on experience and will be discussed with you by the recruiter during the interview process.
