Essential Job Functions
Install MVS software into the SOS repository and maintain SMPE environments.
Package and implement software according to established ITIL-aligned change management processes.
Execute Method of Procedure (MOM) tickets in preparation for scheduled Maintenance IPLs.
Apply software zaps and license keys for third-party software as required.
Complete MVS Product Administration Requests and support associated change documentation.
Perform system recovery tasks during Disaster Recovery drills, including LPAR and CPU recovery processes.
Build and configure new z/OS systems and LPARs for refresh projects and new deployments.
Support MVS tasks related to LPAR decommissions, migrations, and CPU swap initiatives.
Manage software asset records and updates within Asset Center.
Update and reassemble system exits; process SMF data and maintain OMVS segments and zFS file systems.
Perform I/O configuration updates (IOGENs) and maintain complex profiles.
Maintain and implement changes to Coupling Facility and SYSPLEX configurations.
Support OMVS, USS, and HTTP/WebServer functionality for z/OS environments.
Provide technical support for zLinux environments, including LPAR creation and maintenance.
Perform product upgrades, OS upgrades, and CPU hardware refreshes in coordination with infrastructure teams.
Participate in client and internal audits, addressing findings and performing remediation activities as needed.
Support client-driven Disaster Recovery exercises with MVS system expertise.
Develop and maintain automation using REXX, Assembler, and ISPF Dialogs.
Technical Expertise
Extensive experience in SMPE software management, z/OS builds, and I/O configuration.
Strong expertise in software installation, packaging, zaps, and product licensing.
Deep knowledge of z/OS, MVS, and zLinux environments, including system recovery and LPAR lifecycle management.
Skilled in MVS-related scripting and customization tools such as REXX, Assembler, and ISPF Dialogs.
Proficient in managing and troubleshooting OMVS, USS, HTTP servers, and zFS systems.
Experienced in system exit maintenance, SMF data handling, and complex SYSPLEX configurations.
Other Qualifications
Proven track record supporting incident, problem, and change management workflows.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or within a team.
Excellent documentation skills, particularly with technical changes and audit preparation.
Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices for enterprise environments.
Effective communication skills, capable of interacting with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
Experience participating in audits and managing vulnerability remediation in regulated environments.
Work Environment
Primarily remote with on-call support responsibilities on a rotating 24x7 basis.
Flexible availability required for maintenance windows, DR testing, and unplanned outage support.
Involves collaboration with global teams, client representatives, and infrastructure partners.
