Senior Project Engineer - Electrical Components - Space Systems (Remote)

The successful Senior Project Components Engineer candidate will be working on several programs simultaneously with different customers and end item applications. Additionally, the candidate may be responsible for leading Integrated Product Teams and may be required to interface with designers, product development engineering, Electronic Computer Aided Design (ECAD) function, chief engineering, program management, and other disciplines to drive delivery within an approved budget and schedule. This role will also perform and/or assist in the performance of Parts Engineering, Components Engineering or Applications Engineering tasks supporting programs across the product lifecycle and will play a critical role in driving project execution while meeting both internal and external customer expectations. This position may require interaction with our customers including delivery of technical documentation.

What You Will Do:

  • Sets team meeting agendas, leads team meetings, driving action item closures and identifying scope creep
  • Leads investigations and risk assessment reviews, complete with detailed mitigation plans including funding and staffing
  • Creates technical plans with associated schedules and risk mitigation plans which ensure the timely delivery of error-free engineering products, services, and contract deliverable in strict compliance with company policy and procedures
  • Performs bidding and planning activities. Estimates work and is accountable for cost & schedule targets
  • Determines component application requirements based on customer or Statement-of-Work specifications
  • Determines component environmental / characteristic application requirements 
  • Provides electrical design guidance through technology insertion, parts selection, and designs standardization while adhering to business, component parametric, application environmental and circuit application constraints 
  • Interfaces with multiple internal stakeholders and external suppliers/manufacturers to develop component risk and verification delineation 
  • Creates component verification data packages with supporting data 
  • Provides applications engineering support to program integrated product teams
  • Facilitates component selection and libraries application through the coordination and generation of the program bill of material (BOM) in a collaboration toolset 
  • Presentation of component standardization, design library, obsolescence management and termination finish risk results in support of program preliminary and critical design reviews (PDR’s/CDR’s)

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • Prior experience in Electrical Engineering and Electrical Components
  • This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with NASA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per NASA’s regulation SUBPART 1835.5 Drug- Free Workforce

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • BS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering degree w/ 8 + years of experience
  • MS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering degree w/ 5 + years of experience
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience and familiarity with product qualification and production build and test, with an expertise in low-volume space qualified hardware
  • Understanding of the application of technical theories and concepts as they apply to electronic components and the parts management field
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and hierarchy definition
  • Data collection and presentation skills to adequately discuss system impact of component obsolescence issues
  • Knowledge of component failure modes by commodity
  • Knowledge of component reliability process monitors and/or qualification methodologies
  • Knowledge of component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for use in military, and aerospace flight applications.
  • Knowledge and experience with use of lab common equipment (oscilloscopes, network analyzer, etc.).
  • Earned Value/Cost Account Management experience a plus
  • 4+ years Electrical, Electronic and Electromechanical (EEE) components engineering experience
  • 3+ years Project engineering experience

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
