The Opportunity…

Join GRID Alternatives Inland Empire in Riverside, CA as a Marketing & Communications intern supporting our lead generation, marketing, and client acquisition efforts. This is an exciting opportunity that will give you experience in communications, community development, and the renewable energy sector while building valuable on-site work experience. You will acquire marketing skills in various aspects of marketing. Your insightful contribution will help develop, expand, and maintain our marketing channels. You will also work cross-departmentally with other GRID team members to assist with client acquisition and help to spread the word about GRID’s programs using various methods to achieve successful results, as you receive mentoring and exposure to all aspects of the GRID Alternatives mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the marketing and communications team with various administrative tasks
  • Develop creative content for marketing campaigns for advertising and online.
  • Develop stories and content for blog articles, including conducting client and volunteer interviews, editing and preparing stories for monthly e-newsletter
  • Write media releases, assemble media kits, and develop collateral material
  • Coordinate marketing events, including project plans, creative input, and promotion
  • Communicate with GRID supporters through phone calls regarding event sponsorship opportunities
  • Develop social media strategies to increase GRID’s online presence across all channels
  • Work with the marketing communications team to develop digital media content for social media and blog
  • Professionally represent GRID Alternatives at tabling and community events
  • Other assigned tasks as needed


What You Need To Bring To This Role...

  • Passion for solar/sustainability, underserved communities, job training, and/or the environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop a plus
  • Reliable, organized, takes initiative, willing to learn, pitches in, flexible
  • Excellent team player and independent worker


It would be great if you also had...

  • Event planning, marketing and communications, outreach, and graphic design
  • Flexible to work evenings and weekends when needed
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus
  • Hired CA candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including: amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.


Where you will sit & the places you may go…

This position may require 10%-25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.

GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, non-exempt internship position. Hourly pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($18.46 per hour).
