Responsibilities
The Area Sales Manager is responsible for the development and maintenance of customer relationships on behalf of Hamilton Lab Products. The ideal candidate will support areas within the Vermont, New Jersey , Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, New Hampshite and Maine territories.
RESPONSIBILIITES
Management of existing customers and the support of distribution sales reps in the sales region.
Focus on expanding the customer base by prospecting, supporting local sales activities and generating new leads to exceed yearly growth targets.
Establish a working relationship with existing customers to expand account penetration with all Hamilton Lab Products solutions.
Initiates, identifies, and coordinate action plans to penetrate new customers in territory.
Prospect for new leads by networking with clients, attending trade shows, social networking.
Develop a regional sales strategy for the assigned territory that ensures attainment of company sales targets.
Perform a monthly review with sales management to report back and adjust sales activities to support growth.
Coordinate customer visits, demos and follow-ups. Utilize local promotion opportunities (vendor workdays, Lunch & learns, etc.) to ensure productive sales trips.
Assists team in the implementation of marketing plans and objectives, as needed.
Utilize the CRM to record the sales process and communicate sales pipeline. Maintain accurate records and reports on feedback from the field to senior management.
Control expenses and time management to meet budget guidelines and productivity.
Qualifications
Must be able to identify customer needs, position the appropriate product and to be accountable for future growth at the account.
Must have an understanding of chemistry lab workflows, an understanding of HPLC applications and an ability to support customers in the Pharma/Biopharmaceutical, Environmental, Food & Beverage, Chemical Processing markets.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Superior time management skills and the ability to complete tasks on time and from the road.
Ability to travel up to 30% overnight and 60% in field.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree (Chemistry degree or HPLC sales experience highly preferred) is required.
Minimum of three (3) years of technical sales experience in the sales and distribution of analytical lab and consumable products required; five (5) preferred.
Track record of direct sales success, and the ability to partner and collaborate with third party sales representatives
Experience with sales and distribution of analytical lab and consumable products.
Experience with lab technologies including fluid management & liquid dispensing, lab accessories, and HPLC Columns.
