Job description

VetsEZ is seeking a remote Technical Writer to support a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) project. The ideal candidate will possess a technical background with a proven ability to deliver high-quality technical documentation and play a critical role in translating complex data integration, analyzing concepts into clear and user-friendly documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, edit, and refine IT-related documentation (manuals, reports, specifications, and presentations) with clarity and consistency.
  • Collaborate with Senior Data Scientists and Analysts to document data architecture, pipelines, and workflows.
  • Develop and manage communications on SDLC releases, policy changes, and data integration initiatives.
  • Conduct research and interviews with technical teams to ensure accurate, user-friendly documentation.
  • Create training materials, user guides, and process documentation to enhance knowledge sharing.
  • Support SDLC phases by developing and maintaining User Requirements, Functional Requirements, and Design Documents.
  • Ensure documentation alignment with project goals, proposing improvements for clarity and usability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (English, Journalism, Computer Science, etc.).
  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing in IT environments.
  • Strong ability to translate technical requirements into clear documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Experience with Change Management and SDLC phases (functional, regression, performance testing).
  • Proven ability to create and maintain technical documents (e.g., code deployment, training guides).
  • Software development experience (hands-on or support role).

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with VA or Informatics Product Line is a plus.
  • Background in Data Integration Modernizations, Secure Messaging, or Healthcare IT documentation preferred.
  • Familiarity with Summit Data Platform (SDP), VA Profile, or military personnel data is beneficial.
  • Ability to obtain a government clearance.
