Job description

A Day in the Life and the Impact You’ll Make:

As the Sales Manager – Automotive Segment, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth by identifying and developing new business opportunities across DEKRA’s full suite of services. Focusing on high-potential market segments and strategic accounts, you will lead consultative sales efforts that position DEKRA as a trusted partner in quality, safety, and sustainability within the North American automotive landscape.

 What You’ll Do:

  • Proactively identify, pursue, and cultivate opportunities with assigned key accounts through self-initiated outreach, lead management, and participation in demand generation initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional pursuit teams, collaborating with internal subject matter experts to craft comprehensive, customized service solutions that align with client needs.
  • Drive the proposal process in partnership with the Proposals Team, including the development of Statements of Work, tailored proposals, and responses to RFPs and tenders.
  • Oversee contract negotiations in collaboration with legal, sales, and operations leadership, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements and timely deal closures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activities, pipeline development, and account status using Salesforce CRM.
  • Serve as the North American representative for assigned accounts, partnering closely with Global Sales Services (GSS) and Global Account Managers (GAMs) to ensure alignment and consistency in global engagement strategies.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of DEKRA’s offerings and effectively communicate our value propositions across standalone and integrated service solutions.
  • Increase market visibility and thought leadership through social media engagement, participation in industry associations, networking, and representation at trade shows and conferences.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated business development experience specifically in OEM Automotive insurance as well as insurance sales
  • Proven track record of success in business development and consultative selling, preferably within the insurance or automotive sectors.
  • Strong background in developing strategic partnerships, managing complex sales cycles, and integrating multi-service solutions across diverse client environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels, including executive leadership.
  • Skilled in solution-oriented selling and navigating complex B2B service engagements.
  • Solid understanding of general business operations and market dynamics in the automotive sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM tools, especially Salesforce.
  • Prior experience working with or for international automotive OEMs is highly preferred.
  • Experience managing third-party contractors and external agencies is a plus.

Physical Considerations:

  • Must be able to work in a variety of client locations, environments, and conditions. This may include climbing stairs, walking long distances, walking on rough and uneven terrain, walking through client work facilities, working in heat/cold conditions, indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be able to accommodate working various shifts as client activities are scheduled.
  • Must be able to withstand the rigors of extensive travel.
  • May require difficult travel and long periods of driving.
  • Ability to move and conduct work with full range of motion.
  • Ability to lift 25-50lbs (luggage)
  • Extended periods of computer-based work
  • Extended periods of standing

Travel Considerations:

  • Domestic travel required, estimated up to 20%.*

 

What You’ll Receive for the Value You Bring:

Compensation: 

The base pay for this position is $70,000 annually to $85,000 annually.  Actual pay is based on several factors including market location and position-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  This position is also eligible for a Commission Plan.
