Role Overview:

Otis Elevator Company is searching for a strategic HR leader to partner with our operating areas in the U.S. business. The role reports to the SVP, HR Americas and the successful candidate will be an active member of the Northwest and Central Operating Areas in the U.S. This position can be remotely located, but the candidate must reside in the Western half of the United States. 

As the Sr. Manager, HRBP, Central & Northwest, you will be a trusted advisor to leaders and colleagues regarding our people strategy, processes and programs.  The role will partner with our Global Centers of Excellence (COEs) to provide best in class HR initiatives and solutions.  The successful candidate will be a forward-looking business leader, self-motivated leader and a change agent. 


On a typical day you will:

Strategic Planning:   

  • Serve as the strategic HR partner to the Business.   

  • Leverages HR consulting skills to help the business achieve key objectives and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization 

Business Partner:  

  • Trusted advisor to business leaders and colleagues to achieve broad business goals and improve team dynamics to win in the marketplace 

  • Align the people strategy with the goals of the business in a strategic but pragmatic way. 

  • Support key HR processes including hiring, annual compensation planning, regular talent reviews, in partnership with HR COEs. 

  • Responsible for the quality and responsiveness of the overall delivery of all HR services for the respective client group 

  • Use data to identify trends, measure effectiveness and make data-driven decisions 

Change Management & Transformation:

  • Bring thought leadership and experience to driving transformation and change when business conditions require a new plan 

Talent Management:

  • In partnership with business leadership, develop and execute a talent plan that ensures a positive culture, attraction / retention of great talent, development of critical skills/competencies and robust succession plans that provide stability and speed of execution 

Organizational Design & Development:

  • Consult and provide guidance related to organizational design and team effectiveness 

Performance Management & Compliance:  

  • Partner with legal counsel, compliance, other internal stakeholders on performance management cases, ethics inquiries and investigations, and terminations. 

  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and company policies. 

Employee Engagement & Culture: 

  • Support the business to develop a strong engagement strategy to drive retention and business results. 

  • Promote an inclusive and ethical environment that brings Otis leadership behaviors to life for all colleagues. 

HR Leadership Team: 

  • Execute HR projects and initiatives, as needed, in partnership with HR COEs 


What You Will Need to be Successful:

  • At least 5-8 years of HR Business Partner experience, Fortune 500 experience preferred 

  • Ability to work remotely – Western United States preferred and travel up to 30% of the time  

  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of the P&L dynamics driven by people investment, efficiency, and org structure 

  • Experience in coaching employees and managers, facilitating training and developing and implementing HR programs and projects 

  • Experience working in a matrix organization 

  • Prefer candidates that have supported a dispersed workforce across multiple locations; prior experience supporting a service or sales-oriented business is a plus 

  • Solid organizational skills with ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities daily with precision and with little oversight 

  • Data driven decision-maker with ability to mine complex information, draw conclusions independently and present findings in a clear and concise manner 

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively and build strong partnerships with diverse and cross functional teams. 

  • Lead with a sense of urgency and customer first mentality
