Job Purpose Summary

The Senior Director, Tax will lead the company’s global tax function, with responsibility for strategy, compliance, reporting, and risk management across multiple jurisdictions. This role is pivotal in navigating the complex tax landscape of a private equity–backed, high-growth medical device company with international operations. The ideal candidate brings extensive expertise in international tax structuring, M&A, and transfer pricing, with a strong focus on driving tax efficiency while ensuring compliance with evolving global regulations.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and execute the company’s global tax strategy, including planning, structuring, and execution of cross-border transactions, expansions, and reorganizations that aligns with the company’s growth objectives and private equity-backed structure.
  • Optimize tax efficiency across corporate structures, cross-border transactions, and entity rationalization in North America, Europe, United Kingdom and Asia-Pacific regions.
  • Ensure global tax compliance, including oversight of local country tax filings, reporting requirements, and transfer pricing documentation.
  • Monitor and analyze developments in international tax law (e.g., BEPS, OECD Pillar Two, DAC 6, digital services taxes) and assess their impact on the company’s operations.
  • Manage the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, including income, sales/use, and other annual reporting.
  • Build strong relationships with external advisors, tax authorities, and internal teams to facilitate tax strategy execution and risk management.
  • Help advise executive leadership and PE sponsors on tax implications of exit strategies (IPO, M&A, recapitalization, or secondary transactions).
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams on the preparation of global tax provision and reporting under US GAAP/IFRS.
  • Oversee preparation of local statutory tax provisions for UK and European entities.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and best practices within the global tax function.
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities for team members, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture.
  • Collaborate with global treasury and finance teams to plan multi-jurisdictional cash repatriations.

What you will need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or Master’s in Taxation preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive tax experience, with a focus on US tax and international compliance.
  • Experience providing technical analysis of taxes under US GAAP.
  • Experience in a high-growth, private equity-backed, international company required.
  • Proven track record working in global, multi-entity environments with multiple currencies and jurisdictions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex regulatory and accounting matters in a concise and related manner for executive-level consumption.
  • Medical device or broader healthcare/life sciences industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Track-record of managing multiple outside service providers and stakeholders in a high-growth/globally disbursed organization.
  • Deep knowledge of US federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, matrixed, and global environment.

A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this role is ($200,000 - $275,000). Further, pay that is offered is based on geographic location, internal equity, market data, applicant’s job-related skills, commensurate experience, required licensures, certifications and certain degrees.
