About the Role

Second Nature is seeking an experienced Compliance Analyst to join the Legal & Compliance team. As a Compliance Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring the company's operations, services, and products adhere to the relevant legal, regulatory, and industry standards. You will work closely with various departments to identify compliance risks, implement compliance programs and training, and ensure the company remains compliant with the necessary laws and regulations that govern tenant ancillary products and services.

 

Key Competencies for Success in the Role

Regulatory Compliance Monitoring

  • Continuously monitor and interpret regulations, laws, and industry standards that impact the company’s business operations, software solutions, and ancillary services.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes, trends, and developments that could affect compliance requirements.
  • Assist in understanding and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., data privacy laws, financial regulations, insurance regulations, landlord/tenant, consumer protection).

Policy and Procedure Development:

  • Develop, review, and implement compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Work with legal, product, and operations teams to create policies that mitigate compliance risks, especially in software development and ancillary services.
  • Assist in the training and education of staff regarding compliance-related processes and requirements.

Vendor and Partner Compliance:

  • Evaluate the compliance of third-party vendors, service providers, and software partners to ensure their operations align with the company’s standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with contract reviews to ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards.

Internal Audits and Reviews:

  • Perform regular internal audits to assess compliance with established policies, regulations, and contractual obligations.
  • Identify areas of improvement within existing compliance processes and recommend solutions.
  • Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to requests.

Risk Assessment and Reporting

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of company operations and products/services to identify potential compliance gaps.
  • Prepare and maintain reports documenting compliance findings and issues.
  • Work with General Counsel to define risk mitigation strategies.
     

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Legal Studies, related field or equivalent experience
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
  • 3+ years experience of corporate regulatory compliance in a law firm or in-house legal team.
  • 3+ years in regulatory knowledge and legal research analytics.
  • Proficiency in legal databases (i.e., LexisNexis, Westlaw, etc.)
  • Knowledge of risk management frameworks and audit processes
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite; Salesforce and CLM.
  • Research, analytical and comprehension skills, with ability to analyze and summarize large amounts of data.
  • Strong attention to detail, prioritization, and organizational skills; 
  • Acts professionally regarding sensitive subjects and maintains confidentiality while exercising discretion at all times.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple demands and projects in a fast-paced work environment, including ability to prioritize time efficiently and handle heavy workloads while remaining attentive to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, results-oriented, team player with ability to work with other departments in a collaborative manner.
