Job Overview
As the Area Business Director, you will play a pivotal role in the successful launch of our innovative new diabetes pump. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Sales, you will lead a team of 9 Regional Business Leaders and drive field sales strategies to achieve sales targets and market penetration.

The territory for this position includes the following states: Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with corporate objectives for the successful introduction of the diabetes pump.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of Regional Business Leaders to drive performance and exceed sales targets.
  • Product Launch: Oversee the regional implementation of the product launch plan, ensuring effective communication and execution of launch strategies.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis to identify key opportunities, market trends, and potential challenges. Provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with key healthcare professionals, opinion leaders, and influencers in the diabetes space to drive product adoption.
  • Sales Forecasting: Work closely with the Executive Director, Sales, to develop accurate sales forecasts and budgets. Monitor performance against targets and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Training and Development: Implement training programs for the sales team to enhance product knowledge, selling skills, and customer engagement.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Medical Affairs, and other relevant departments to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to the product launch.
  • Field Support: Provide on-the-ground support to the Regional Managers, including regional travel, to address challenges, conduct field visits, and ensure the successful execution of sales strategies.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all sales activities and strategies comply with industry regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of sales strategies and drive continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of work experience and education. MBA or advanced degree in business is a plus.
  • Demonstrated history of success in both medical device sales and sales leadership.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proven success in launching and promoting new products in the diabetes space.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent people management skills: coaching, development, conflict management, performance management.
  • Experience recruiting and developing team members
  • Experience leading sales teams to launch and deliver products.
  • Experience in developing strategic business plans with specific, measurable, action-oriented objectives.
  • Demonstrated relationships with Endocrinologists strongly preferred.
  • Previous sales award recipient due to strong sales performance (i.e. President’s Club, Rookie of the Year).
  • Strong data analysis, evaluation and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Diabetes products and therapies.
  • Candidate must live within the assigned geography and within 30 miles of a major airport
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Valid driver’s license required. 
  • Ability to carry and transport professional sales samples and literature.
  • Ability to travel within defined territory as necessary, which may include overnight travel. Majority of time will be spent with team in market.
