The Position:

Position General Summary:

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise IT infrastructure systems. This role ensures the resilience, scalability, and performance of critical infrastructure services across on-premise and cloud environments. The Senior Systems Engineer will provide advanced technical expertise in areas such as server infrastructure, virtualization, networking, storage, cloud integration, and systems automation.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Senior Systems Engineer will lead complex infrastructure projects, contribute to architecture and strategic planning, and provide mentorship to junior engineering staff. A strong focus on reliability, security, and operational efficiency is essential in this role.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Architect, implement, and maintain enterprise infrastructure solutions across physical, virtual, and cloud platforms.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct root cause analyses, and apply proactive measures to prevent downtime.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement best practices for system hardening, access control, and compliance.
  • Lead infrastructure automation efforts using tools such as PowerShell or Ansible.
  • Support cloud transformation initiatives (Preferably Azure) including hybrid integration strategies.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, standards, and procedures.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex issues and mentor other engineers on technical solutions and processes.
  • Participate/Lead in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
  • Develop and manage effective working relationships with other departments, groups, and personnel with whom work must be coordinated or interfaced.
  •  Must possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal while providing regular status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedule for 24 x 7x 365 support.
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others.

 minimum Requirements:

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •  Industry certifications such as MCSE, VMware VCP, Azure Solutions Architect, or similar are highly desirable.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering, with a focus on enterprise IT infrastructure.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, ECT), RedHat Linux, and popular virtualization platforms.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure), including IaaS/PaaS/SaaS management.
  • Solid understanding of networking principles, storage technologies (SAN/NAS), and enterprise backup solutions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):

  • Proficiency with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes, including experience deploying and managing containerized workloads in production environments.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to manage competing priorities.
