Job Description Summary

We are seeking a seasoned, Vice President / General Manager (VP/GM) to lead and drive the growth and operational excellence of our Biorepository business. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the biorepository industry, including biological sample management, storage, and data services. The VP/GM will be responsible for overseeing business development, operational performance, and financial outcomes, while leading a diverse team to ensure the success and expansion of our biorepository services. This position offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in advancing the company's impact within the life sciences, healthcare, and research sectors.

How will you make an impact & Requirement

  • Leadership & Strategic Vision:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for the biorepository business, driving growth and enhancing market position.
    • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of operational, scientific, and business development professionals.
    • Align divisional objectives with broader company goals, ensuring a cohesive approach to growth and profitability.
    • Foster a culture of innovation and excellence across all aspects of the biorepository business.
  • Operations & Service Delivery:
    • Oversee the management of biological samples, including the storage, tracking, processing, and transportation of specimens in compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
    • Ensure that all biorepository operations run smoothly, maintaining the highest standards of quality, security, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GxP, ISO, HIPAA).
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operational efficiency, cost management, and service quality.
    • Ensure that all biorepository facilities, equipment, and technologies are maintained at optimal levels for safe and effective sample management.
  • Financial Management & P&L Responsibility:
    • Assume full P&L responsibility for the biorepository business, driving financial growth while managing operational costs and investments.
    • Develop and monitor financial goals, budgets, and forecasts to ensure profitability and long-term sustainability.
    • Identify and implement cost-saving strategies while ensuring the continued investment in technology, infrastructure, and personnel to support growth.
  • Business Development & Client Relationship Management:
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic research organizations.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and collaborators, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and long-term engagement.
    • Lead contract negotiations and business agreements, ensuring alignment with company strategy and financial goals.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:
    • Ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations governing the storage and handling of biological materials, including local, national, and international laws and standards.
    • Lead efforts to maintain certifications (e.g., ISO, GxP, CAP, CLIA) and accreditation status for the biorepository business.
    • Identify and mitigate operational and financial risks, maintaining a proactive approach to regulatory changes and compliance requirements.
  • Talent Management & Organizational Development:
    • Lead and develop a team of professionals across multiple functional areas, including operations, scientific services, quality control, and business development.
    • Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and employee engagement, ensuring a high level of talent retention and development.
    • Foster collaboration and teamwork, promoting an environment where cross-functional collaboration drives business success.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in the biorepository, life sciences, or related industries, with a proven track record of managing complex operations and teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of biorepository operations, including biological sample storage, tracking systems, and regulatory compliance (GxP, HIPAA, FDA, ISO).
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in P&L management, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
  • Proven ability to drive business development and build strong, lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders in the life sciences, healthcare, and research sectors.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and lead a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements and operational efficiencies within a highly regulated environment.
  • A strong network within the biorepository and life sciences industries is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business administration, or a related field is required; an advanced degree (e.g., MBA, PhD) is preferred.
