**This role is fully remote based out of Canada or the U.S.

About the Position 

The Lead Energy Market Analyst, part of the Americas – Solutions team, will engage with potential and existing clients to drive sales and deliver technical work. They will support Energy Exemplar’s growth in North America by identifying customer use cases, shaping go-to-market strategies, and providing thought leadership. Acting as a subject matter expert, they will understand customer challenges, propose solutions using Energy Exemplar products, and communicate value effectively. 

 

The role is heavily focused on modeling, requiring expertise in energy market fundamentals, basics of electric power transmission and, ideally, gas transport, and stochastic optimization. The analyst will build energy market models using Energy Exemplar’s PLEXOS and collaborate with technical experts. Strong training, mentoring, and career growth opportunities are provided, including international travel. Candidates should have strong modeling skills, customer engagement abilities, and a proactive, adaptable mindset. 

  • Drive the development of energy market models across the Americas region.   
  • Support the Sales Executives with new prospects’ sales inquiries and pre-sales support from start to finish   
  • Support the sales team in meetings with prospective clients. Understand the prospects business and regulatory challenges and propose innovative solutions based upon Energy Exemplar product offerings.   
  • Deliver product demonstrations to new and existing customers   
  • Create Proof of Concept studies by developing models which demonstrate the potential of Energy Exemplar’s solution to meet customer needs.   
  • Provide technical responses to customer enquiries. Including RFI/RFP.   
  • Produce technical sales collateral including presentations, documentation and training materials.   
  • Provide product training, both remotely and on-site, as required for new prospects & existing customers.   
  • Provide advice, guidance & updates to sales executives, new prospects & existing customers on energy markets modelling.   
  • Lead in collaborative software implementation and adoption projects to develop detailed energy market and/or power systems models to meet customer needs, and integrate the models with client’s business process environments 
  • Keep abreast of regulatory and market developments across the Americas, with emphasis on assigned markets 
  • Carry out research and understand trends and developments in Americas energy markets, providing thought leadership towards customers.   
  • Research and formulate white papers, webinars to market Energy Exemplar’s products and services   
  • Engage with prospects & existing customers to improve their energy modelling capabilities.   
  • Troubleshoot possible issues in customers models and liaise with development team.  
  • Fulfill other duties as required by Americas Senior Leadership Team and other department personnel as requested/required.

  • Thorough knowledge of standard Microsoft programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Degree in electrical engineering, Energy Economics, Operations Research, Mathematics or similar.   
  • Prior experience in building fundamental energy market models   
  • Knowledge of PLEXOS or other mathematically based optimization tools 
  • Skill and experience with Python and other scripting language a plus.
