The Senior Software Engineer will lead the technical development of solutions within the Ask VA platform, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security. This individual will contribute to system design, coding, and DevSecOps processes as part of an agile team delivering value to veterans and VA personnel.

Primary Responsibilities: Design, build, test, and deploy scalable software systems and APIs. Collaborate with architects, product managers, and designers to define requirements and technical solutions. Lead code reviews and maintain high code quality and engineering standards. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and secure delivery. Ensure applications meet federal security, privacy, and accessibility requirements. Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of production issues. Contribute to architectural decisions and mentor junior engineers. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably with modern web technologies. Experience or expertise in developing applications integrating with MS Dynamics Expertise in languages such as JavaScript (React/Node), Python, Java, or similar. Strong knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools. Experience with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Working knowledge of RESTful API development and integration.Familiarity with security and compliance standards, including Section 508. Agile team experience using tools like Git, Jira, and Jenkins Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent certifications. Direct experience working in the VA environment strongly preferred. Familiarity with the VA Enterprise DevSecOps Platform (EDP). Background in customer-facing portals or service-oriented platforms. Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge of observability practices and tools (e.g., Splunk, Prometheus, ELK stack)..
