Overview: The Staff Software Engineer L5 works with all service aspects of high throughput and multi-tenant services, has the ability to design components carefully, properly handle errors, write clean and well-factored code with good tests and good maintainability.

Responsibilities 

  • Design, implement, and maintain software systems, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and efficient.  Design and develop user friendly, responsive web interfaces using modern web application frameworks.
  • Identify and solve complex technical issues, finding innovative solutions that align with business objectives.   
  • Deploy micro services seamlessly using Container Orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS managed services and tools 
  • Integrate API Gateway with IAM systems for authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and API keys.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and other such policies, procedures, and requirements as outlined within Employer’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the scope of work. 
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement, and fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success 

 Required qualifications (Must Have’s): 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology or computer science. 
  • At least 8 years' experience in Software development utilizing programming languages like Java, Spring boot, .NET Core, Python, Shell Script, Bash, SQL, and Angular (for the front end).
  • At least 3 years’ experience with API automation using technologies such as JMeter, Postman, Ready API, Rest Assured.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in SQL technologies PostgreSQL, MS SQL and NoSQL. 
  • At least 2 years’ experience in caching, queuing, scheduling, concurrent and event-driven architecture 
  • At least 4 years of proven track record of implementing distributed systems and microservice architectures (RESTful APIs) 
  • At least 3 years' experience with AWS (preferred) and Microsoft Azure cloud.  
  • At least 5 years with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment techniques 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in engineering or technology or computer science. 
  • 1+ years' experience in data pipelines would be an added advantage. 
  • 2+ years' experience in Big Data technologies like Snowflake would be a plus
  • 2+ years’ experience with JavaScript (with modern UI frameworks like Angular) 
  • Demonstrated experience of developing applications on/for Linux platforms 
  • Deep understanding of OIDC specifications and JWT handling.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more API Gateways (e.g., AWS API Gateway, Apigee, Kong, Azure API Management).

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

  • Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time). 
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force. 
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions. 
  • Travel for this position will include less than 10% locally, usually for training purposes.

In addition to the base compensation, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Inovalon, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.

Base Compensation Range
$110,127$160,000 USD
