Position summary
The Business Development Leader is responsible for driving Barcel Global's strategic growth and market expansion. This role focuses on defining long-term business objectives, identifying opportunities, provides consistent KPIs, and ensuring alignment between global strategies and local commercial execution. By working closely with key departments including Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Logistics, among others the Business Development Leader optimizes processes, enhances sales effectiveness, and maximizes business potential.
A crucial aspect of this role is maintaining strong relationships with local sales leaders to identify market opportunities, coordinate cross-functional teams, and develop strategic initiatives that elevate Barcel’s presence in the region. This leader will oversee efforts to expand the product portfolio, increase penetration, and ensure high service levels.
The Business Development Leader will analyze insights, manage KPIs and reports, and actively participate in business reviews to provide a comprehensive assessment of Barcel’s market performance. This role will be instrumental in shaping Barcel’s future, driving commercial excellence, and positioning the company for continued success.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Growth Alignment
- Define, track, and communicate Barcel’s goals and KPIs for saturation, commercial introductions for new channels, and service levels.
- Ensure all projects and initiatives align with Barcel ROW’s long-term vision and Avenues of Growth strategies.
- Actively participate in the periodical business reviews with Commercial leaders among other teams.
Market Expansion & Business Development
- Grow market saturation by reaching untapped client segments outside of BIMBO’s network, leveraging distributors, new channels, and local market opportunities.
- Identify opportunities to improve distribution methods to strengthen market presence.
- Promote and execute strategies that drive financial growth, increase market presence, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Monitor industry trends and replicate best practices within Barcel.
Sales & KPI Management
- Provide leaders with weekly KPI updates to optimize saturation and service levels.
- Participate in regional business reviews to evaluate KPIs and commercial actions without adding extra meetings.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Leadership
- Coordinate periodic meetings with Barcel and BIMBO regional leaders to review strategic and operational priorities.
- Consult with senior management on business trends to develop new services, products, and distribution channels.
Data-Driven Insights & Reporting
- Utilize data sources to analyze competitive opportunities, mitigate risks, and capitalize on strategic growth areas.
- Create consolidated monthly and quarterly (Pre-board) reports to provide a single source of performance insights.
- Ensure alignment with Marketing and Revenue Growth Management (RGM) teams to optimize consumption occasions per channel.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in the consumer goods, food, or snack industry, with a proven track record of success at an executive level.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage high-performing teams across different geographies and functions. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Business Acumen: Strong analytical skills and business acumen with the ability to manage P&L, make data-driven decisions, and develop long-term strategies that drive growth.
- Travel: Willingness to travel domestically and to Canada as needed for key business engagements, customer meetings, and team leadership activities.
