  • Identify areas for process improvements and support management in coaching clerical staff.

You will be in charge of liaising with internal Finance, key stakeholders and external suppliers to plan, organize and effectively manage the invoice verification, payment and accrual processes.

Using this and other information as a basis of producing and analyzing key financial and non-financial reports.

 

Responsibilities:

  • By managing relationships with external vendors and internal departments, ensure that invoices are accurate with payments and/or accruals completed in accordance with Finance and external supplier deadlines.  Verify and manage General Ledger information is posted and dropped accordingly.
  • Manage month end and year end processes.
  • Active participation in the financial forecasting, analysis and budget process for revenues & expenses including commission analysis.
  • Timely preparation and/or analysis of month end reports.  Analyzing and explaining variances between budget/forecast and actuals and understanding the business drivers.  
  • Develop understanding and passion for the business performance indicators and costs drivers. 
  • Work independently and within teams without requiring close supervision. Support the management & coaching clerical staff responsible for providing dedicated support in the fundamental operations processes.
  • Effective cost management by working with colleagues to ensure suppliers are providing market-competitive rates, maintaining high quality and identifying opportunities realize operational and real-dollar savings.
  • Identify areas of opportunity for process improvements and efficiencies, which will contribute to the evolution of the department and the continued success of the corporation.
  • Completion of special projects as assigned by Senior Management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent business experience.
  • Strong financial, mathematical and analytical skills.
  • 1-2 years of experience in finance or managing accounts payable and general ledger processes.
  • Ability to create, interpret and report on statistical/financial data.
  • Demonstrated success working with suppliers and business partners to achieve goals.
  • Experience managing unionized staff beneficial.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
