Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Safety, this position supports safety at Porter Airlines through oversight of its Emergency Response Plan.
Duties & Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
Evaluate industry standards and best practices for aviation emergency preparedness, and make recommendations for the continuous improvement of the Porter emergency response program
Maintain the Emergency Response Manual and related documentation (eg. Family Assistance Plan, Aircraft Recovery Plan); issue and track amendments to emergency response team and stakeholders
Track and update contacts for emergency response stakeholders
Administer initial and recurrent training for emergency response team members
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and IATA/ICAO standards related to emergency response, post-accident family assistance
Assume responsibility for oversight of post-accident family assistance processes defined in the Porter Emergency Response Plan including those in support of codeshare partner airlines
Administer emergency response tabletops and drills; participate in stakeholder exercises
Participate in audits of station and stakeholder emergency preparedness
Maintain the confidentiality of organizational safety reporting systems
Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understanding, complying with and promoting the Company Safety Policy and Non-Punitive Reporting Policy

Qualifications
Excellent working knowledge of Transport Canada, TSBC, NTSB, ICAO and IATA requirements for aviation emergency preparedness and post-accident humanitarian assistance
A minimum of 5 years of experience with commercial flight operations
Experience in the development, implementation and promotion of aviation emergency response programs
Excellent leadership, time management, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills; keen attention to detail
A working background in project management
University degree, IATA airline emergency planning and response training certification, and/or acceptable combination of education, training and/or related work experience
Ability to secure and maintain restricted airport security clearance
Must maintain a valid passport; must be able to travel domestically and internationally when required on short notice
