The Opportunity:

The International Account Executive is a dynamic role that plays a pivotal part in driving our company's growth. This position is not just about maintaining the status quo; it's about tenaciously pursuing new international business opportunities while nurturing our existing customer base.

As an integral part of our sales team, this person will be responsible for identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities within a specified geographical territory. This involves meeting with potential clients and existing customers, understanding their unique needs, and crafting tailored sales strategies to win new business and retain current clients.

**Key Responsibilities**

Business Development 

  • Seek and prospect new international customer targets within a defined geographical territory to grow Steam's ocean, air, and customs business.
  • Travel 50% to visit prospects, customers, and vendor/carrier partners. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers through regular professional communication, making multiple contacts with the account's hierarchy. 
  • Ensure proper management of CRM.
  • Develop and provide pricing to prospects and clients as necessary.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work in tandem with the International Account/Senior Account Managers in the International Operations department to ensure effective communication with customers, with the goal of retaining and growing business. Collaborate with this team to complete RFPs and RFQs.
  • Collaborate with brokers in the Drayage and Domestic departments to develop new business and explore cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.

**Qualifications**

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Currently live in New Jersey.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in international freight forwarding.
  • Preferred knowledge on different Steam offerings - drayage, domestic, and intermodal. This role will need to be able to cross sell our product offerings outside of International.
  • Competency in Microsoft Applications - Word, Outlook, PowerPoint along with CargoWise and Salesforce
  • Ability to sell international freight to multiple types of decision makers (Head Planner to CEO).
  • Vast knowledge of international freight components and flows. 
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with both customers and suppliers.

This role does not have supervisory responsibilities. 

Location: This position will be performed remotely outside of work travel.
