Job description

SC&H Group’s Accounting Solutions Practice, which provides outsourced CFO, Controller and bookkeeping services to small to mid-sized companies, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Outsourced Controller or CFO to support serving middle-market clients with revenues ranging from start up to ~ $100 million. This critical role combines hands-on financial expertise with strategic business acumen, managing a portfolio of client relationships while managing a high-performing team of accounting and finance professionals.  You’ll be responsible for delivering high-value outsourced finance and accounting services, guiding companies through financial strategy, operational improvement, and scalable growth initiatives.  We utilize all cloud-based technologies to enable a virtual work environment. 

Key Responsibilities

 Client Leadership

  • Serve as outsourced Controller or CFO for multiple client accounts, providing strategic financial guidance.
  • Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with CEOs, founders, and executive teams.
  • Drive financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and reporting for client organizations.
  • Oversee accounting operations, month-end close, audit preparation, and internal controls as needed.
  • Manage both internal and client accounting team members.
  • Advise clients on key financial decisions including capital structure, M&A, risk management, and KPI development.

Practice Management

  • Collaborate with business development teams to scope engagements and onboard new clients.
  • Ensure exceptional service delivery, meeting deadlines, and managing expectations with clarity and confidence.
  • Track and manage KPI’s important to drive profitable business for the practice.

Strategic Growth

  • Identify opportunities to expand service offerings or deepen client relationships.
  • Understand key services offered by other service lines and proactively identify opportunities for additional SC&H services.
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives and strategic planning as part of the leadership team.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, tools, and technologies to ensure innovative client service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with prior experience as a Controller or CFO.
  • Proven track record serving companies with revenue range up to $150 million.
  • Experience in a client-service or consulting environment is preferred.
  • Experience with M&A activity is preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Net Suite).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Salary & Benefits

The expected annual base salary for this position is $150,000-$215,000. Salary offers are made based on a variety of candidate specific factors such as candidate's skills, performance, job responsibilities, prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications and market considerations.
