What You Will Do:

This Sr. Principal Engineering role is an opportunity to lead model-based development and model-based systems engineering of engine fuel systems across military and commercial gas turbine and hybrid electric propulsion systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model-based Engineering of Fuel and Actuation Systems.
  • Fuel and actuation feedback control algorithm development.
  • Onboard real-time models for fuel system FDA.
  • Integration with internal customers including engine operability and engine performance teams, control laws, control system safety and reliability, V&V, DPHM. 
  • Analysis to derive sensor, algorithmic and computational requirements for modeling, estimation, and FDA solutions.
  • Model-based functional requirements development consistent with MBSE best practices. 
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action for fuel system test and field issues. 
  • Rapid development of software solutions to emerging hardware issues. 
  • Fuel system trade studies for improving key propulsion system metrics. 
  • Talent development through mentoring, development/delivery of training and standard work.
  • Up to 10% travel

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 10 years engineering experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience Engineering/Other Technical Positions
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Fuel system modeling using languages such as Modelica 
  • Model-based Systems Engineering experience
  • Experience developing fuel system functional requirements for control system software and for fuel system hardware.

The Engine Design Systems Integration (EDSI) Mature Commercial Engines (MCE) team is frontline keeping the legacy commercial, industrial and military transport / tanker fleets operating safely.  EDSI MCE system engineering lead prime mission is to ensure fleet wide safety, customer satisfaction, reliability, maintainability while driving a profitable business result.

This role is:

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
