The Team:

S&P Global Market Intelligence is seeking a Product Manager/Product Owner to join our Search Product team. The team is responsible for the Search functionality on the MI Desktop platform.  We are a global, collaborative team that prioritizes open communication, mutual respect, and excellence in all we do.  Our goal is to provide users with the best search experience in the financial industry.  We facilitate the identification of key companies, funds, and financial entities and support access to critical data and insights for strategic decision making.  In so doing, we create novel solution for relevance, search interface development, and backend services that exceed user expectations.


Responsibilities and Impact:

The Impact:

As a Product Manager & Owner you will be responsible for helping to drive increased client satisfaction and adoption of our delivery platforms by working with an agile scrum team responsible for the timely execution of strategic and client-driven initiatives and enhancements.  You will act as the liaison between the team and stakeholders, end users, business, and customer. You are, essentially, the ‘translator’ of customers’ needs into executable tasks (user stories) for the technology teams. You will help the team ensure a positive client experience by performing audits and analysis on our delivery platforms, presenting your findings and make recommendations. Your role has significant relationships and responsibilities including working across Product Management, Technology and Commercial, with your closest relationship being with the Product Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Determines, maintains, and prioritizes the product backlog; set expectation for the stories to maximize the value

  • Translate customer requirements into user stories that can be turned into features / products by the Technology team.

  • Define stories and prioritize the team backlog to streamline the execution of project priorities, while maintaining the vision and integrity of the product

  • Engage with Scrum Team on delivery related activities and create a release plan in partnership

  • Ensure stories are executed within the overall release plan at the MVP and team level

  • Ensure clear visibility into the work and health reporting across Product Managers and leadership

  • Build relationships across senior management and key stakeholders to gain buy in and support for additional product and content initiatives

  • Work with multiple groups to gather and refine requirements and translate them to actionable product goals

  • Work closely with our Commercial partners to understand the client needs and workflows, our competition, and be able to articulate the value proposition of our products

  • Analyse and aggregate customer feedback received via surveys, feedback and enhancement requests to help drive the product roadmap.

  • Participate in regular product and dataset reviews to engage other groups around the offering

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $60,000 USD to $70,000 USD. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • BA or BS in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 2-4 years of product management, technology or related experience

  • Proven ability to work with and motivate global teams in a diverse and complex organization

  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum or SAFe process (Experience as a product owner/Scrum Master of a SCRUM team a plus

  • Relevant experience resolving complex operational problems requiring strategic and innovative solutions

  • Hands-on expertise in successful product management functions

  • Experience developing and/or supporting financial market data services products from concept to commercialization, including understanding and gathering client product requirements

  • Effective influencing, interpersonal and communication skills in a matrix environment

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a team

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of the financial data industry and competitive landscape as well as an understanding of market data delivery platforms, messaging services and their relevance

  • Knowledge and experience working with semi-structured and/or unstructured data and data repositories used for data mining and innovation analysis

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of product quality and data management

  • An understanding of Search and/or related concepts. Deeper the better.
