Description

The Opportunity: 
Prepare premium tax, municipality tax, and surplus lines compliance returns and communicate those changes and submissions to the team manager. Collaborate with team members to manage and maintain all domicile tax rates, forms, filing requirements, etc. with current data.
 
In This Role You Will Execute On: 
  • Prepare captive clients’ tax filings and surplus lines for captive, risk retention group and traditional insurance entities and communicate changes and submissions to managers, regulatory bodies and clients.
  • Update and maintain index of all domiciles with current data including tax rates, filing deadlines, etc.
  • Review as requested by manager and advise on all premium tax, municipal, assessment, surcharge and regulatory filings.
  • Assemble premium information for proper tax filings for all captive clients. 
  • Assist manager with maintenance of compliance calendars as part of the onboarding process for each new captive client, consisting of thorough and up-to-date inventory of all relevant state compliance filings (tax, renewal forms, data calls, premiums by line of risk, etc. and respective filing deadlines).
  • Produce reports and analyze premium tax accruals and reconciliations.
  • Facilitate and manage the premium tax filings for captives under management by working with each internal team for a specific client; establish payments in respective online systems; obtain approval from captive client to process and approve filings.
  • Regularly communicate with the internal teams for specific clients to ensure compliance with servicing expectations with clients and service providers.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as requested.

 

In This Role You Will Need: 

  • Minimum of a high school degree and a Bachelor’s degree preferred, with 1-2 years of relevant insurance premium tax compliance experience or a combination of successful and related education and experience.
  • Strong ability to work in a team environment in which there is a mutual dependency on each other’s work products with strong adherence to deadlines.
  • Strong time management skills demonstrated by managing a portfolio of captive clients with multiple members with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to consider multiple data sources and draw relevant conclusions.
  • Ability to identify inconsistencies and errors in work product and documents.
  • Exhibits passion and excitement over work.  Has a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and conditions. Copes effectively with complexity and change.

  • Able to present returns, data calls, reports and other documents to captive members effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to travel on an infrequent basis for education in the premium tax industry and interaction with the team during annual summits or other meetings
  • Proficiency with Premium Pro, Excel and other software platforms.
  • The ideal candidate would have excellent communication skills, time management, attention to detail, product development capabilities, be a team player, and demonstrate initiative with strong analytical capabilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel by car or airplane for meetings, conferences, or other business-related functions.
