The Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing financial transactions while maintaining accurate and timely accounting records. This position applies accounting principles and procedures to specialized processes, transactions, and financial reporting. The Accountant will manage and reconcile accounts in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines, and assist in the preparation of various financial reports. Additionally, the Accountant will serve as a liaison to the University community, providing guidance on complex accounting matters and the use of financial systems.
This position is fully remote.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- BA/BS in Accounting or related field
- 2+ years professional accounting experience or experience in a related field
Skills needed:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in business applications, especially spreadsheets
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to build effective working relationships
- Provide a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Capable of taking initiative, assuming responsibility, working independently, and contributing to a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to understand and prepare data analysis and present data according to requirements
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and implement new accounting standards, University policies and procedures
What is helpful:
- Certified Public Accountant
- Experience working with non-profit or higher education
- Experience with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
