Position Overview

We are seeking a Generative AI Engineer to contribute to a Skill Task Analysis (STA) project focused on Microsoft’s Generative AI Engineering capabilities. This role will involve documenting, organizing, and validating the technical skills and tasks required to build, evaluate, and deploy generative AI models within the Microsoft ecosystem. You will work with a cross-functional team to help structure the future of skill-based AI talent development, including domains such as large language models, multimodal systems, data pipelines, cloud deployment, and MLOps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and document core skills related to Generative AI Engineering across Microsoft platforms and tools
  • Structure tasks in key technical domains, including:
    • Neural networks, CNNs, RNNs, and transformer models
    • Generative models: GANs, VAEs, diffusion models, autoregressive architectures
    • Multimodal models: CLIP, DALL·E, GIT, BLIP
    • Large language models (LLMs) with Azure OpenAI
    • Agentic workflows using Semantic Kernel, LangChain, and Assistants API
    • Data handling and synthetic data generation using Azure Data Factory and Synapse
    • Model deployment with Docker, AKS, and Azure ML endpoints
    • MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and model lifecycle automation
    • Ethics, safety, and Responsible AI aligned with Microsoft’s principles
  • Support task mapping and validation to ensure technical clarity, role alignment, and practical relevance
  • Contribute to iterative reviews and improvements to ensure completeness and accuracy of the skill analysis.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of generative AI concepts and architectures, including transformers, LLMs, GANs, and VAEs.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies, such as:
    • Azure Machine Learning, Azure OpenAI Service, and Azure Cognitive Search
    • GitHub, GitHub Copilot, and Visual Studio Code
    • Docker, Kubernetes (AKS), and Azure Container Instances
  • Proficiency in designing and deploying agentic workflows with tools like Semantic Kernel and LangChain.
  • Familiarity with data preprocessing, augmentation, and synthetic data generation for text, image, and video.
  • Knowledge of model optimization techniques: quantization, pruning, ONNX Runtime, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with MLOps workflows using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, and Azure ML for tracking, versioning, and monitoring models.
  • Commitment to ethical AI development, including bias mitigation, secure practices, and responsible deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing or contributing to retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems using Azure Cognitive Search.
  • Strong understanding of multimodal model integration (text, image, and video) using Azure Cognitive Services.
  • Ability to evaluate model performance using BLEU, FID, or other appropriate metrics.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for GenAI, model interpretability tools, and debugging practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale AI systems using Azure Load Balancer, distributed compute, or parallel training.
