What you will do
You will be responsible for leading the development and execution of Johnson Controls (JCI) global continuous improvement strategy across the PTP (Procure to Pay) processes within the organization. You will be an experienced, key change agent with a deep understanding of Lean fundamentals, methodologies, and tools, as well as Continuous Improvement principles. You will drive continuous improvement, waste reduction, and process optimization initiatives specifically in the procurement and PTP (Procure to Pay) functions supporting the overall procurement strategy and enhancing supplier relationships.
Additionally, you will foster cultural and behavioral changes that support our transformation journey, enabling our organization to achieve sustainable success. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities within procurement processes, develop and implement action plans, and monitor progress towards achieving results. How you will do it
Conduct regular process mapping and Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement and identify waste reduction opportunities in procurement and PTP (Procure to Pay) processes.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by developing and implementing strategies that drive ongoing process improvement and innovation within the PTP cycle.
Analyze and evaluate procurement and PTP (Procure to Pay) business processes to identify opportunities for improvement and develop solutions to enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement.
Define, design, and implement process improvement as part of the Johnson Controls Management System (JCMS), ensuring its integration and alignment horizontally across the materials, procurement, PTP (Procure to Pay) and finance organizations.
Develop and implement Lean strategies and initiatives specifically targeting waste elimination, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement across procurement, PTP, and accounts payable.
Develop and implement Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools, such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Root Cause Analysis, focused on procurement-related processes.
Collaborate with procurement teams and other departments to ensure alignment and integration of Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives with overall business strategy.
Lead and coach cross-functional teams in the use of Lean tools and methodologies to identify and eliminate waste and improve procurement and PTP processes.
Drive the development and implementation of sustaining systems such as suggestion systems, team leaders, and group leaders with appropriate spans of control and clear roles and responsibilities within procurement.
Develop and deliver training programs to build Lean and Continuous Improvement capabilities across the organization, with a focus on procurement and PTP processes.
Establish and maintain relationships with external organizations to promote the exchange of ideas and best practices in Lean and Continuous Improvement related to procurement.
Develop and manage benchmarking activities to identify best practices and drive continuous improvement throughout the procurement and accounts payable areas.
Develop and monitor metrics and key performance indicators to measure the success of Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives in procurement and accounts payable.
Communicate and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders regarding improvements in procurement and PTP processes.
Provide regular progress reports to senior leadership on the status of improvement activities and results achieved in procurement and accounts payable.
What we look for
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in Continuous Improvement, including a track record of successful project delivery and organizational transformation, and leading cross-functional teams and strong leadership and coaching skills.
Demonstrated expertise in Lean methodologies and tools, such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kanban, Standardized Work, Leader Standard Work, etc.
Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools, such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Root Cause Analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives.
Strong project management skills and experience leading large-scale Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
Certified Lean Practitioner, Lean Expert, or Lean Leader.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt.
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Manager (CQM).
Project Management Professional (PMP).
