Job description

Dykema Gossett PLLC, a leading national law firm, is recruiting for a Software Engineer, Innovation.  The Software Engineer, Innovation, is a critical member of the firm’s Innovation Team. Working with department leadership and cross functional teams, this position is instrumental in evaluating, developing and maintaining transformative custom and third-party solutions.  The ideal candidate will combine legal technology expertise, analytical skillsand a passion for enhancing practice efficiency through modern tools and processes.  It is a fully remote position in association with any Dykema office location.

Responsibilities:

  • Rapidly develop and test new software prototypes, focusing on innovation and exploring emerging technologies
  • Work closely with cross functional teams, including product management, UX/UI, and engineering, to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Contribute to the design and architecture of new custom solutions, ensuring scalability and maintainability
  • Code development and testing: write clean, well-documented code and conduct thorough testing to ensure the quality and reliability of software
  • Track emerging technology and provide information and updates to the CKIO and team members
  • Identify and address technical challenges, ensuring the successful delivery of innovative software solutions
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in existing processes and tools
  • Maintain detailed documentation of projects, tools and processes

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
    • A minimum three years of experience building products in cross-functional, agile teams; a plus for experience in law firms or with tools focused in the legal profession
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to engage non-technical audiences
    • Solid technical background with a strong interest in leveraging AI: a plus for experience with Anthropic, Open AI and other LLMs
    • A track record of delivering maintainable, well-tested code and tools
    • Proficiency with Azure and AWS environments
    • Proficiency with JSON, SQL, Python and other languages
    • Comfort with architectural discussions, asking insightful questions, and guiding technical trade-offs
    • Experience working in a highly collaborative, hybrid environment
    • Growth mindset that enjoys a fast-paced environment

    The estimated base annual salary range for this position is $115,000 - 155,000, based on a 40-hour work week.  This salary range represents Dykema’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base salary range at the time of posting.  The actual offered salary will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, work location, individual skill set, previous/applicable experience, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
