Talent, Learning, and Culture (TLC) Overview

The Global Talent, Learning & Culture team is responsible for a range of key HR areas and processes across the Global MUFG Bank and Securities business; including Learning & Development, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition & Mobility, and Culture & Engagement.

Talent, Learning & Culture is a trusted partner dedicated to building a resilient and engaged workforce, ready to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow. We value and invest in our people like we do our clients. We hire, develop, and empower talent to thrive, own their own unique path, and propel MUFG forward.

Note: Given the international and collaborative nature of MUFG, this role will work on global and regional engagements, and flexibility is required to allow for meetings and connectivity as needed with clients and colleagues across the AMER, APAC, and EMEA time zones. Employee wellbeing is a critical element of GHR’s culture. Measures, work practices, and technology will be in place to enable team member wellbeing, connectivity, and productivity.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The main purpose of the role is to support the development and execute a culture strategy that shapes and sustains an organizational culture aligned with our mission, values, and strategic priorities.

As a key member of the Global Talent, Learning & Culture (TL&C) team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that MUFG’s culture evolves and thrives, driving business outcomes and positioning us as a destination for top talent.

This is a hands-on position where you’ll help set the strategic vision and execute key initiatives by building critical partnerships around the world. You will need to balance big-picture thinking with a roll-up-your-sleeves approach, delivering experiences and solutions that bring MUFG’s culture to life and make it a driving force behind our long-term success.

Specific areas of focus may include: (1) Culture Metrics & Reporting, (2) Culture & Organizational Effectiveness, or (3) Employee Brand & Employee Experience.

While focused on creating consistent employee experience across the Bank and Securities businesses in EMEA, AMER, and APAC, this global role may involve regional-specific responsibilities. You’ll work closely with on the ground TL&C leads, regional CHROs, and key stakeholders to address local regulatory requirements or business needs, all while continuing to establish and scale global HR practices within our evolving framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role will be responsible for partnering with key stakeholders to implement a holistic culture strategy that strengthens alignment between the MUFG Way, Culture Principles, employee brand and business objectives, to ensure that our people feel connected, valued, and empowered to contribute to the bank’s success.

  • Build strong partnerships across the business to drive culture-forward initiatives.
  • Apply design thinking, data-driven, and employee-centric methodologies to enhance the employee experience and create an environment where employees feel valued, heard, and empowered.
  • Leverage insights (e.g., engagement surveys, listening tools, sentiment analysis) to assess culture health, identify trends, and develop/adjust strategies with measurable impact in culture and engagement.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with HR Centres of Excellence, HR Business partners, and Executive Leaders to ensure feedback informs HR strategies and business decisions.
  • Partner with HR Analytics to evolve established culture metrics and reporting to track progress.
  • Manage HR Solutions resources in data analysis, reporting, and action plan monitoring as required in the future GHR model.

This role may also be responsible for one of the following specific areas of focus:

Culture Metrics & Reporting

  • Develop and implement a holistic employee listening measurement strategy, ensuring a comprehensive approach to engagement, lifecycle, and ad hoc surveys.
  • Embed Leadership Commitment into listening strategy, ensuring leadership accountability in acting on employee insights by aligning reporting to Human Capital Committee and Culture Committee meetings within regions and globally.
  • Partner with Head Office and key stakeholders to oversee the design, execution, and analysis of enterprise-wide surveys, including pulse, engagement, and lifecycle surveys, ensuring data integration across the talent lifecycle.
  • Partner with Risk and Audit teams to develop and maintain efficient, streamlined Risk Culture reporting and metrics into Risk Committees within regions and globally.
  • Partner with HR Analytics team to continuously explore new solutions and industry best practices for employee listening, enhancing our ability to gather and act on feedback efficiently.

Culture & Organizational Effectiveness

  • Lead cultural change efforts to ensure MUFG’s ways of working evolve alongside our growth and transformation to help ensure MUFG remains a place where people love to work and thrive.
  • Establish and cultivate a network of global leaders to embed mentorship, coaching, and leadership best practices into MUFG’s culture, ensuring a strong pipeline of future talent.
  • Partner with regional employee networks (i.e. Culture Influencers, ERNs, DCP Councils, etc.) to develop programs (i.e. focus groups, sprints, peer networking) that encourage a “Listen Up. Speak Up.” culture, continued learning, leadership development, and a growth mindset to cultivate a resilient workforce.
  • Partner with key stakeholders such as HR & Corporate Communications, Business Leaders, and Risk & Compliance to integrate culture into talent and development programs.
  • Monitor progress and adjust strategy to ensure MUFG’s culture remains a guiding force during periods of growth, transformation, and change.

Employee Brand & Employee Experience

  • Influence stakeholders at all levels to embed MUFG’s Culture Principles into business processes, leadership behaviours, and employee experiences to further our employee brand.
