Position Overview
This pricing leadership role oversees all pricing activities for USIL’s inforce and complex liabilities. With responsibilities for growing USIL, this role is integral to the strategy and success of the business. The team has doubled in size over the past year, requiring both a technical expert and people leader.
Responsibilities
Leads and directs all pricing and risk analysis of the inforce transactional business. May include managing multiple quotes at one time. Transactions can include interactions with brokers or directly with the seller.
Oversee all pricing and risk aspects of new complex liabilities initiative. Directs team on engaging, pricing, positioning and ultimately executing on small UL coinsurance transactions
Partner with USIL, AFS or corporate development leads to support any transactional pricing involving inforce individual life risks
Participate in corporate pricing and capital committees to advocate and influence pricing strategies beneficial to USIL and RGA.
Perform post quote diagnostics to assess RGA’s competitiveness and opportunities to enhance our offerings and process
Leverage new data sets, technology and processes to increase quoting speed and identify insights to improve pricing competitiveness
Be a Talent Champion by fostering the growth and development of staff, building a pipeline of talent, managing succession plans and key person dependencies, facilitate rotations, encourage training programs and establish a positive and winning culture
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related field
FSA Certification
15+ years actuarial experience in Life & Health Industry (specifically Life, Annuity, Retirement)
Actuarial experience in product development, institutional pricing or reinsurance
3+ years of managing a team of 4 or more associates
Advanced actuarial skills in pricing
Expert knowledge of life insurance products
Ability to manage large complex transactions, and drive them to conclusions
Adept at quickly reviewing voluminous technical documentation (e.g. treaties, appraisal, product specifications, etc) and translate into simple risks, opportunities and insights
Advanced knowledge of key financial reporting, accounting, and solvency regimes, including (but not limited to) US GAAP (including FAS 97, FAS 133, FAS 157, SOP 03-1 and LDTI), US Statutory, and US tax; IFRS; and Bermuda frameworks
Creative thinker; ability to develop “outside of the box” solutions. Applies to financial solutions, legal entity structures, economic capital frameworks and treaty negotiations
Expert persuasion and negotiation skills when working with external customers to resolve challenges
Advanced ability to engage with clients or other external parties to develop trust and respect
Highly advanced ability to adapt to new methods; work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
Expert skills in managing multiple projects and teams simultaneously
Exceptional people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility
Preferred
MAAA/FCIA or other local actuarial organization accreditation
Reinsurance industry experience
Experience interacting with clients and/or brokers
10+ years of managerial or leadership experience
Exceptional oral and written communication skills including presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey complex information to a client or executive in simple actionable terms
Familiarity with new technology and tools including (but not limited to) Artificial Intelligence, Snowflake, SQL, Python, Bower BI, Tableau, Sigma
Familiarity with GGY AXIS
Life Valuation experience a plus

Compensation Range
$193,250.00 - $294,450.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
