VASS BeNeLux, in partnership with the European Commission, is currently seeking an Expert Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Expert to work from the European Commission.

The role:

· Day to day management of the Virtual Desktop infrastructure (VMWare/Omnissa Horizon)

· Act as the primary Subject Matter Expert and technical point of responsibility for VDI service (VMWare/Omnissa Horizon).

· Lead the improvement of all related service components.

· Commit to delivering the objectives for project activities that were assigned during the PI Planning.

· Maintain system documentation. Support procedures and rota/cover arrangements with actively managed preventative upgrade cycles.

· Develop your capability as the Subject Matter Expert to configure and maintain the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure from a service administration perspective including configuration, improvement and scheduled maintenance.

· Carry out a programme of daily/weekly/monthly checks and develop approaches to improve, streamline and automate the health status of the environment.

· Optimizes system operation and resource utilization and performs system capacity analysis and planning.

· Considerable experience of the design, implementation, administration and maintenance of VMWare/Omnissa Horizon Virtual Dekstop solution.

You have:

· Experience of relevant administration including administration/monitoring/configuration of guest using vCenter, configuration of storage for the environment, administration of VMWare Virtual Machines, Windows servers/workstations…

· Experience of providing high demand/mission critical systems on a 24x7 basis.

· Experience Maintaining fully patched/updated/mitigated Operating System image for testing and production, and helping users with operations of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) systems

· Knowledge of Service Management disciplines engagement, design, delivery and maintenance lifecycles in a high technology or IT services domain.

· 5+ years experience with Virtual Desktop solution (preferably VMWare/Omnissa Horizon)

· General understanding of networking (load balancing, firewall…)

· Experience managing large Virtual Desktop environment

· Ability to troubleshoot in complex environments and quickly identify root cause

· Excellent written & verbal skills in English (C1)

· Excellent written and oral communications skills.

· Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Solutions oriented mind.

· Team player with strong communication skills.

· Able to quickly assimilate procedures.

· Able to work well under pressure.

· Comfortable in international and multicultural working environment.

· Punctual, meticulous and reliable.

Desired qualifications:

· Knowledge of/or experience in ITIL environment.

· VMWare certifications are assets

· Previous experience with another Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solution is an asset

· Experience with Active Directory design and implementation

· Knowledge of French is an asset

· Attention to detail

· Good problem-solving skills

· College degree or 5+ years' experience in complex IT environments

· Knowledge of Splunk/SCOM monitoring solutions is an asset

· Knowledge of Agile and Safe methodology is an asset

Work Conditions: Work shifts of 8 hours covering the time range between 07h00 and 20h00 from Monday to Friday with some flexibility required when overtime is exceptionally needed. Possibility to work full-time remote.
