Role Summary
Renew Home is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to lead our accounting function and team. We are revolutionizing the energy industry by connecting smart homes with the smart grid to promote clean energy and consumer empowerment. As a key leader in the finance team, you'll play a critical role in supporting our mission.
What You Will Do
- Lead monthly close process to ensure it is completed in a timely manner.
- Lead revenue recognition for new contracts as someone well versed with ASC606 guidance.
- Establish processes for the accounting team to enforce proper accounting methods per US GAAP, and follow accounting policies.
- Work with internal and outsourced teams to resolve issues, review reports, and provide GAAP guidance.
- Collaborate with other departments to obtain information needed for month end close.
- Prepare quarterly P&L and BS reports for investor reporting, and assist with preparing audited financial statements.
- Review and approve journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by team members.
- Ensure compliance with sales tax, Canadian GST/HST, business tax, Delaware Franchise tax, and file reports as needed.
- Work collaboratively with FP&A team to ensure proper general ledger coding and departments on financial statements. Improve and implement processes to ensure coding is done correctly.
- Review and reconcile payroll and 401K matching.
- Lead treasury management and ensure bank accounts are funded for operational needs.
- Ensure AP payments are made in a timely manner, and syncs to Bill.com are cleared of any conflicts.
- Support annual audits with external auditors, and complete internal control testing on a quarterly basis.
- Collaborate with Controller on ad-hoc tasks and reporting needs.
Requirements
- Proven work experience as an accounting manager in both private and public company environments is required. Energy/renewables industry experience preferred.
- Ability to direct and lead small teams of 2-5 employees. Experience managing outsourced teams is desirable.
- Big 4 or tier II audit firm experience. In absence of Big 4 experience, a CPA or CPA equivalent designation from outside of the US is required.
- High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multi-task in a startup environment.
- Ability to work with large data sets in excel, and capable of using advanced excel formulae.
- BS degree in finance or accounting.
