Job description

We have an opportunity for an experienced account director to take the lead in the marketing workstream of a fast-paced rare disease account. If you’re looking to take that next step in your career and have a passion for delivering programmes that transform patient lives for the better, this could be the role for you.


The role

In this key role, you’ll work closely with the editorial lead to drive the delivery of high-impact initiatives that advance scientific communication and patient outcomes in the field of rare diseases. In close collaboration with the team, you will direct implementation of the client’s strategy, ensure high-quality execution and drive business growth.

You can be based at any of our UK offices or work completely remotely from anywhere in the UK and Ireland.


Key responsibilities

  • Leadership of marketing workstream within a highly significant rare diseases account for AMICULUM, which also encompasses medical affairs and publications support
  • Through working closely with the editorial lead, there is an opportunity to strengthen and grow our business with these clients
  • Providing clients with a high level of scientific, strategic and creative expertise on promotional medical communications projects, including standalone events, symposia, slide sets, infographics and digital resources
  • Establishing and building positive, collaborative relationships with client teams and medical experts
  • Providing leadership and support to the internal account team, engaging with and encouraging their development
  • Supporting business development activities through relationship building and the organic growth of accounts
  • Confidently managing account financials and project budgets
  • Reviewing content developed by the writing team to ensure alignment with objectives
  • Building collaborative partnerships across internal teams


What you’ll need

  • Client services expertise at a healthcare communications agency, with a focus on marketing or medical affairs projects
  • The ability to take ownership of and lead the account team, providing strategic support and direction
  • The ability to provide strategic support to our clients and drive business development for existing and new accounts
  • Strong verbal communication, a strategic mind, with a desire to contribute to discussions with clients on brand plans and fresh approaches with the support of the team
  • Experience mentoring junior team members, reviewing their work and fostering client relationships
  • The ability to be highly organized and detail oriented and to stay calm under pressure
  • Willingness to travel
  • Experience in rare diseases and omnichannel is beneficial but not essential
