Job description

Are you an established team lead looking for a new challenge, or a seasoned medical writer looking for a step up? We’re seeking a talented individual who can apply their editorial expertise to a large rare disease medical affairs workstream and lead a team to continued success. If you’re confident in your ability to provide scientific and creative expertise on a range of medical communications projects, as well as to establish a dynamic partnership with your clients, this role could be a good fit for you.

The role

This role is perfect for someone who blends scientific expertise with strategic vision, thrives on client engagement and values collaboration. You’ll contribute to a variety of medical affairs projects, playing a key role in shaping and driving the success of a significant account. Here you’ll also enjoy a unique opportunity to grow your career in a dynamic, title-free environment that fosters innovation and professional development.

You’ll have the flexibility to work at any of our UK offices or completely remotely from anywhere in the UK or Ireland.

Key responsibilities

  • Scientific leadership of medical affairs workstream of a rare disease account
  • Providing clients with a high level of scientific, strategic and creative expertise on medical communications projects, including advisory boards, training and educational materials, competitor intelligence materials, slide sets, infographics and digital resources
  • Establishing and building positive long-term relationships with client teams and medical experts
  • Building collaborative partnerships across all internal teams
  • International travel to provide on-site support for client events (majority held in Europe)
  • Mentoring and training of editorial team members
  • Supporting business development activities through relationship building and the organic growth of accounts

What you’ll need

  • Extensive experience supporting medical affairs clients, specifically within a healthcare communications agency
  • A strong academic background in a life sciences subject and keen scientific curiosity
  • Excellent editorial review skills and the ability to provide constructive and encouraging feedback to team members on their work
  • Engagement and confidence in meetings and presentations, both internal and external
  • A strategic mind, with a desire to contribute to discussions with clients on brand plans and fresh approaches
  • The ability to keep calm under pressure, with strong team leadership and mentoring skills
  • Rare diseases and omnichannel experience would be an advantage but is not essential
