Job description

Position at Confluent Inc

With Confluent, organizations can harness the full power of continuously flowing data to innovate and win in the modern digital world. We have a purpose that drives us to do better every day – we're creating an entirely new category within data infrastructure - data streaming. This technology will allow every organization to create experiences and use the power of data in ways that profoundly impact the way we all live. This impact is our purpose and drives us to do better every day.

One Confluent. One team. One Data Streaming Platform.

Data Connects Us.

About the Role:

We’re building the foundational platform for data in motion—and we’re looking for a Public Relations Manager to help tell that story. This is a high-impact role where you’ll drive major company moments, support product and partner launches, and bring forward creative storytelling opportunities that show how data streaming powers today’s most innovative companies.

You’ll report to the Senior Manager of Public Relations and work closely with executives, product and engineering leaders, and global PR agencies to build thought leadership programs, bylines, media materials, and more. You’re a natural storyteller who can translate complex technologies into compelling narratives that educate, inspire, and drive engagement. You’ll also own and support strategic programs—from our awards and speaking platform to PR reporting and partner announcements—and have a seat at the table as we build and scale a world-class communications function.

What You Will Do:

  • Build and deploy a targeted thought leadership program for select Confluent executives, including media strategy, influencer engagement, and social media platforms to elevate their voice in the industry
  • Own Confluent’s speaking and awards program—from identifying opportunities to securing placements and supporting speakers through content development
  • Support our partner PR program, including drafting co-branded announcements and reviewing partner-led press releases
  • Assist with major company announcements and events, including product launches, company announcements and industry moments
  • Own PR team reporting and measurement—track the effectiveness of our communications strategies, surface insights for key stakeholders, and use data to continuously refine and improve our programs
  • Act as the first responder to inbound media inquiries, ensuring timely, thoughtful, and accurate responses
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams across marketing, product, and partner organizations, as well as with external PR agencies

What You Will Bring:

  • 4+ years of experience in public relations, ideally in B2B enterprise tech, with agency experience and/or in-house tech experience
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, compelling stories
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strategic thinker with an owner’s mindset who is comfortable developing new programs from scratch or improving what already exists
  • A collaborative team player who communicates effectively across functions and levels
  • Propensity to take action with creative problem solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Demonstrated experience in PR reporting with a keen attention to detail and ability to summarize pertinent info for an executive audience

What Gives You an Edge:

  • You’re smart, humble, and empathetic—not just in how you work, but in how you show up for teammates, customers, and partners
  • You’re results-driven and see opportunity in every challenge
  • You value craft and creativity, but also know how to operate with urgency
  • You’re not afraid of a challenge or change—in fact, you see it as fuel for your best ideas
